He scored a good amount of goals and seemed a decent bloke. But for some reason I just don't like him. Probably cause of the many, many piss easy chances he missed. I don't think he scored once outside the box for us, but of course he does it with ease tonight.
Because he was given the freedom of Bristol to get a shot off.

Wasn't his goal at MK where he took it down over his head from 25 yards or so?

I didn't 'abuse' Baldock, just booed him. Not because I hate him, because I don't believe in pandering to ex-players. He's now the opposition, I wouldn't be bothered if he went off with a broken leg.

Eh? It's not LJ's fault the only right back fit to start was a 17 year old (or whatever he is), you can't hold him accountable for that.

A bad day at the office, we'll get something at Forest.

I've nothing wrong with Lee implementing a possession, good football based game as long as it's used against the right teams.

Against MK it worked a treat because player for player we are, in my eyes, better than them. However when you play an efficient outfit like Brighton it's no good whatsoever, you just have to shithouse it. Defeats like today happened all too often under Cotterill who, aside from the formation played a similar style.

For me it's the style of play that didn't help Vyner tonight. It left the lad in some really awkward positions and over and over again he was punished or caught out. Golbourne often had similar problems but had the quality to get himself out of trouble. I appreciate Lee has his hands tied in regards to that.

Gobsmacked by that, thought those days of being turned over at home were over after Cotterill left! Valuable lesson learned hopefully!

I didn't get what the hate for Baldock was all about, stayed with us when we went down and did well earning a move back to the championship, didn't speak badly about the club or anything, didn't really celebrate his goal, yet fans were constantly calling him wanker, c*** etc. Atyeo were abusing him as he went off too.
Has always spoken highly of City in interviews with us. Seemed very genuine that it was hard to leave you but was an opportunity to make a step up. Pretty sure he regretted it at times last season!

Those goals at MK were cracking finishes, the one you are on about was inside the D but just outside the box. Shock that the only time he did was against another old club..

Yeah not sure what the shit against Baldock was. League One top scorer was he with us? Probably from the same fans who wanted Ryan Taylor played instead of him.

Vyner just came up against a good player in Murphy and got exposed. Back to the training ground, develop further with a hunger for more first team experience and let's see how he develops in years to come.

But yeah I agree - we tried to match Brighton man for man in a 4-4-2 and it did go wrong as they were getting in behind every time down our right. We aren't a million miles away from teams like Brighton, we'll make strides towards it in the summer this year I have no doubt.

Apparently some of fans have reported him to stewards for supposedly making a wanker gesture towards fans in the Atyeo, others claiming he was doing a dance celebrating his goal, jesus what a bunch of deluded shits, all he did was jog towards the corner and do the thing where he stretched his arms facing down and palms facing down indicating he didn't want to celebrate, so what if he did make a wanker gesture, by what I heard around me and could see in the Atyeo he had a good few thousand calling him a lot worse from the moment he first touched the ball, if you call him worse you can't expect him not to give any back and I'm not even sure he did make the gesture.

He should have celebrated. I wouldn't have thought any less of him if he did. If he did make a wanker gesture towards the Atyeo then fair play, he's definitely got a set.

Can see both sides of it. On the one hand, a footballer should conduct themselves professionally but on the other hand they are only human and it's very difficult not to react if you are being abused. Not bothered either way really, if he did it he did it. Never had any issues with Baldock moving to a much better ran club.

Seeing as he scored at that end - then why not? No need to do an Adebayor now is there?

Felt sorry for Vyner. That's the danger of putting in youngsters, especially at the defensive end and at this level.

Hope he bounces back and the same goes for the rest of the team. Hopefully it was just one of those nights.

Haha, how could you think that? We're Bristol City in the Championship. It happens in about a quarter of our home games every season at this level.

Yeah LJ had his hands tied a fair bit with it as well which didn't help.

Our fans are weird towards Baldock. Scores 25 goals in a season but he should've got 35 so he's shit.

Did great for us, great attitude, never said a bad word about us... I don't get how anyone could look badly on him

That was a weird one. Weren't overly bad, just gifted them three goals. We'll be absolutely fine. Brighton looked a good team to be fair. Had a lot less of the ball but moved it quicker and looked more dangerous. In the end bad defending cost us, and lack of cutting edge.

An I right in saying LJ called it a free game due to our recent form?!
Not the best use of words.

Think it was a 'free game' in the sense all the teams around us didn't do well so no harm done in effect.

Brighton best side I have seen this season. In fairness they outclassed us all over the pitch and did a job on us. It's hard on Vyner, Brighton really exploited him last night and Freeman did very little to support him on that right hand side for us.
Anyhow in the grand scheme of things the result looked damaging but in terms of the table changed nothing, no serious harm done.

Blimey!
I have been in London for a few days this week so missed the game, again!! :(
What you have posted is exactly what my dear old dad told me when he rang me after the game last night, almost word for word. I took it as the old man being a bit defeatist (he usually praises the opposition a bit too much, he always has) but to read it on here means he was actually right for a change!
Sounds like I chose a good game to miss in all honesty.
No harm done eh but Vyner will have to be taken out of the firing line now for his own good IMHO.

They were ruthless if anything pal - taught us a bit of a lesson with the way they exploited Vyner and the clinical finishing. Structured, organised, tactical side. It doesn't take anything special to get out of this league anymore - you just need to be built from the back and have a bit of nous about you, like Preston are showing.

Been an odd sequence of results for us of late. When we went on our long unbeaten run we could only ever beat anyone by a single goal. By contrast our last 3 results have been 3-0, 1-4, 4-0 - two ruthless displays with a massive collective fuck-up in the middle. No idea what to conclude from that, just that the swings in fortune are becoming greater seemingly after it was really fine margins for quite a while.

What I do know is that Tuesday's brilliant (and unexpected) response only reinforces how crucial Kayal is for us, and how much of a key player Murphy is becoming. Seems that Hemed is getting back in the goals at just the right time also.
