I like how you went to the effort of making that for an hour, and the end result was MK being bigger than four clubs in this division

We've done nothing of note, literally nothing. Second place in division one, FA Cup runners up, losing in the PO final in this league to a volley from an overweight c***, it's always so near yet so far with this club. Still, we still continue to churn out in numbers - 14,000 season tickets sold for next season already and yet to make general sale; not bad or a traditionally second tiered club who haven't done masses in the game.

Fair play for going to the efforts of this though, it makes interesting reading. Congratulations on becoming a bigger club than us MK, you deserve it lads :)

At the moment yes, I'm open to suggestions to improve it.
Put us right at the bottom for starters unless you're counting the Wimbledon history too, there's no way a club that's major honour is a league 2 trophy and the JPT is bigger than 1 club in this league let alone 3 or 4

To be fair that's down to them not being around long enough, if they'd been around since pre-WW2 and been a 3rd/4th division team then they'd be bottom I think.

Don't think we've sold 14k season tickets. Have they even gone on general sale?

By the calculations of the Bristol Sport website, we have. Have a look on OTIB at the season tickets thread.

General sale is on Monday.

They're usually quite off. They don't list all the seats for whatever reason. Is the same with POTD tickets when up for sale.

Have a look at page seven of the OTIB thread mate, it seems the figures add up.

He's counted every seat being displayed, available or not.

Assuming there's a cap though, they won't make every seat available they'll hold some back for POTD.

I don't see how we've sold 14000 when it's only at the renewal stage isn't it?

I've just spent over an hour trying to find a way to balance achievements throughout history with modern achievements to produce the ultimate 'Big Club League!'
View attachment 3172
Sheffield Wednesday are (officially?) the biggest club in this mighty fine league, with Wolves in 2nd. Blackburn, Leeds, Derby and Forest are left to contest the play-offs. Arguably, ours, Forest's, and Wolves' position is heavily pushed towards the top thanks to a large trophy haul. In the bottom three are Reading, Brentford and Rotherham. Reading's position there is largely thanks to a lack of trophies and a large amount of time in the bottom 2 divisions. Special notes to Brighton, MK Dons, Bristol City, Reading, Brentford and Rotherham who ended up with a minus number at the end.

(also, due to the 2015/16 stats able to change after every matchday, this table can be updated after every round and some changes could ensue)

(and again, no I did not manufacture it to make Rovers higher than what some would say normal, I entered all the figures with teams in alphabetical order and created a coefficient based off the stats inputted)

I know we'd be bottom anyway but both us and Bristol City have won the JPT which is an honour, making that table null and void.

When you get to the smaller clubs in the division it's all very interchangeable, 10 years ago i'd have us above Burnley based on crowds and historical success but now they've had a couple of promotions to the top flight and seen a rise in crowds, I think most would have them above us.

For what it's worth, i'd say Preston, Burnley and Huddersfield are almost identical in size. Bolton edge above us all due to recent success imo and Blackburn on top of that little pile based on historical achievements.

In terms of crowds, I don't think there is much between any of those, if we were all in the same league for a sustained period of time then I don't think there would be much in it either way, dependant on league position. Bolton and Blackburn might argue against that but they both have some Premier League hangers on left, a few seasons in League One would put an end to that.

2nd bottom, woop woop, suck it Rotherham (I'd argue we should be above MK too, but then again so should everyone)

Also these lists are stupid.

It's on sale to members as well. There were loads last season, because of the ST cap. We'll wait and see.

Taken from OTIB -

The 14k includes Club/Hospitality Seats & Kids/School Seats. Members who were not Season Ticket holders this season (like myself) have also been able to buy since Wednesday, but I expect a few members have not yet bought.

I'm waiting because I can only buy one ticket, the other people in my group were not members last year. I expect another wave on Monday with the general sale and people being able to add others to block bookings.

Charlton definitely, Burnley yes, Cardiff and QPR debatably. They're another two clubs that have had recent PL exposure, but the history books tell you that when the chips are down their attendances haven't been impressive. Even with them both selling out most weeks in the PL, they've come back down and have shit attendances. Same for Burnley in that bracket, their attendances aren't great still but they've had many years in the top flight.

I beg to differ about our attendances. We only have a small ground, so our average does not really change depending on the division. We have a core of about 13k that will always go and then goes up or down by about 3k depending on us doing well (the other 2/3 k is for away fans).

The fact you've recently been in the Premier League and can still only muster around 15k is pretty poor, wouldn't you say? However, you do have Chelsea on your doorstep.

With City, I think it comes down to potential more than anything. We haven't done much really apart from 9 years in the top flight, an FA Cup final and 3 JPT trophies! Yet we're still averaging the same as QPR?

I'd like to think if we ever get to the PL, and stay there for a little while, we can average 20K+ every game. Especially with the catchment area that we have and nobody really competing with us in the region.

You have just got promoted, so you have that excitement factor. I have heard a rumour that you are expanding your stadium?! So I would guess that next season they will be bloated figures as well. After that, I would guess they will drop again if you are mid table or lower.

We have been a shambles for 4/5 years, so I do not think it is that surprising. I am not saying our support is great, far from it. I am just saying that our numbers stay pretty consistent no matter if we are Prem, Championship or League 1.

Ah I hadn't realised that, I suppose it is possible then.

Though it's not as simple as capacity - remaining available seats = STs sold like they've done on otib because they'll leave some for POTD plus as you say club/hospitality seats, tickets offered to local schools etc. So I doubt we've sold that amount yet.

Reckon we will though, by the time it's all done I can see us around the 15-16k mark

As i'm extremely bored at work this afternoon i've done a table, based on points. If you don't like the criteria or final outcome, go fuck yourself.

  • Highest all-time average attendance + Highest average attendance in the last 30 years + Current Stadium Capacity.
  • 100pts per year spent in the top flight.
  • 10,000pts for a European Cup.
  • 5,000pts for a league title (First Div/ Prem)
  • 2500pts for an FA Cup win.
  • 1000pt for a League Cup win.

1. Sheffield Wednesday - 146,726
2. Leeds - 140,918
3. Wolves - 139,640
4. Nottm Forest - 134,076
5. Blackburn - 127,853
6. Derby - 120,953
7. Boro - 112,449
8. Birmingham - 105,245
9. Cardiff - 102,743
10. Charlton - 98,830
11. Bolton - 98,650
12. Burnley - 94,621
13. Ipswich - 92,734
14. PNE - 91,117
15. Huddersfield - 90,798
16. Hull - 87,035
17. Fulham - 86,624
18. Brighton - 85,716
19. Reading - 72,185
20. Bristol City - 71,291
21. QPR - 61,098
22. MK Dons - 51,602
23. Brentford - 49,913
24. Rotherham - 41,031

I realise this appears extemely sad but I got paid while doing it so... fuck you.

Also, just to reiterate, if you have an issue with the table, eat shit.

*Used the eventual capacity of Ashton Gate, not current. Same could apply for Brentford but no idea what the situation is with their stadium.

Don't have an issue if it's correct but...

The great debate continues, but as we are still in this league for the next few weeks, Wednesday in my opinion are the biggest club in this league and in no dimension that we know would Preston be above us and Blackburn

Theres no way on gods earth that MK Dons are a bigger club than us, ourselves and Brentford would be a close call for 2nd bottom.
