Do we have many/any qualified coaches here?

I've basically realised that I know nothing at all about football, and I thought this might be a better way to learn than reading "Inverting the Pyramid" or trying not to be terrible at football manager. Plus the shortage of coaches and all that.

I've heard that the level one course is fairly basic stuff. I was surprised to see it's a week long course, the way people speak about it.

Do I need to do the second course, or further than that, to actually learn anything?

I've got the Level 1 qualification.

Even most of the BPL idiots on here could get that one.

So Silkyman and Destruction. I think Leewilson has a badge or two, too.

Not sure these courses mean gaining footy knowledge tbh.

They don't, you either know football or you don't. It can't be taught.

What the course basically teaches is different training drills. Which you could get out of the handbook anyway. It's just a ruse (sp?) to make money.

Silkyman has coaching badges yet doesn't understand the offside rule.

This is extremely interesting.

Surely actually getting out there and getting involved in the game has to have some benefits though.

Sounds like he needs the FA Ref level 1 and 2 courses instead.. :shifty:

I found some dates early next year for the Level 1 and 2 coaching courses down at RAF Brize Norton so hopefully will jump on them both as they're free. Something I've been meaning to do for a while, whilst the 1&2 sound very basic, 1 especially, it's those first steps every young aspiring coach will need to take. I've been to a few seminars at St George's park with a work colleague and it absolutely fascinates me, Eddie Howe blew my mind with a presentation on the transition from defence to attack. So much to learn.

I thought this was coaching badgers. I'm a little disappointed.

It was meant to be. I realised the error in the title and I couldn't work out how to change it. In a panic, I edited my message and just pretended to take an interest in the discussion that followed.

Level 1 is a doddle. You have to be working with a team to be able to do Level 2, you can't just do it off the cuff.

Don't have football but have cricket level 2, don't know if its the same with football but the level 1 was incredibly easy, its practically making sure you could do a session without injuring anyone.
