Our team is late (nothing EVER changes) so we've skipped our pre-match meal (possibly sandwiches) and gone straight to the ground. Well prepared as always.
Could be a lot more than 3 goals down. Sounds like an absolute disaster of a half, none of the players interested until Boyce got hauled off for Pearson who is trying to salvage anything he can.
Think Hurst needs to buck his ideas up fast or he'll find himself once again on the chopping block. I didn't mind the signings of Berrett and Summerfield because I was under the impression either one of them would be paired with Disley or McAllister but just straight playing them together after they went down with York shows just how little research he's done there. Very poor.
Second half a lot better and we apparently had a stonewall penalty turned down shortly after our first, could've been a different result if it had been given but ultimately we got what we deserved. Said after Wycombe that we've got a lot of gelling to do before we start making any sort of noise in this league so we shouldn't panic yet but we can't make that excuse for too long or we'll find ourselves in a scrap. Got to have Pearson, Disley and Bogle starting regularly from now on.
That was far more comfortable than 3-2 suggests, could have been four or five at half-time and never really looked too threatened after the break to be honest. The early goal so soon after half-time seemed to make us just sit back for the rest of the half, which is never a good idea when you've just come out of a season with the worst defence in the Football League. Still never really felt particularly troubled though, albeit if the second goal had come ten minutes earlier I'm sure we would have had problems.
A bit frustrating really that we let the two goals slip, as we've made a little bit of hard work out of a pretty routine victory. We were much better on Saturday though.
Shocking first half from us last night with some schoolboy defending. Vastly improved in the 2nd half but you can't have a first 45 minutes like that and expect to get anything from a game. Having said that, if we'd have been awarded the penalty for a clear push on Omar Bogle a few minutes after we'd scored, who knows what might have happened. Not sour grapes at all but I though the officials were awful, the lino in front of us missed 3 clear offsides in the first half. Unbleivable that someone who can't keep up with play manages to become an assistant ref. Good call by PH to take Boyce off though before he was sent off, plus he just wasn't in the game at all.
Having just seen the penalty incident on the Player highlights, Bogle does himself no favours at all. It's nothing more than Prosser leaning into him, without any real force, and Bogle goes flying through the air like he's been completely shoved. No more a penalty than Guthrie being sandwiched in the first half (which wasn't a penalty either).
The way I see it, defender knows he won't get there in front of Bogle, so he turns around, not looking at the ball and nudges him over. Bogle made the most of it but anywhere else on the pitch, it's a penalty.
Looked like contact was made the moment Bogle started his jump which made it look a lot more theatrical than it should've been. Definite penalty for me but agree that the challenge on Guthrie should've also been given so swings and roundabouts.
