Just a simple one, asking for people's opinion's on the two best left backs of the Premier League era. Which one was better?

Ashley Cole for me, one of the best players I've ever seen at Wolves.

Cole was easily the better defender. Evra spent half of his Man Yoo career out of position.

Looking forward to goin' Burton and your big derby with Walsall?

Yes, actually. Be nice to win a game or two for once. Looking forward to Accrington?

Then again, they could well be a division above you next season... Crawley? Morecambe? :dk:

Cole by miles. Rare player of that era to be better than a United counterpart.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Cole. I always think it's a tad unfair that Beckham was given the 'five minute cameo' treatment for so long to crowbar him over the record appearance line, when Cole finished a handful of matches behind him, just on his own merit.

Cole, just going by the amount of crucial goal line clearances he made alone.

Two of the best left backs to have played in the Premier League but I'll have to plump for Cole just. Fantastic defender and in some ways it's a shame that he'll be remembered for being the fuck puppet that he is.

Patrice, though I may be biased having had a mini love affair with the guy on TFF (don't say the forbidden name). Cole benefits from being English in this argument, especially on the UK dominated forum. During his time in England, Evra had more team of the year selections and his signing along with Vidic was one of the primary factors that United wrestled power back from Chelsea in the late 00s. The end of his career has also shat all over Cole's.

There isn't much between them at all though. Cole was better positionally, Evra was better at on the ball (specifically dribbling past players) and was a more attacking threat on the overlap. Evra was still good positionally (well, before 2012 when he went a bit renegade*) and Cole was still good in attack. There hasn't been anyone near their calibre in the Premier League since they left - in the late 2000s they were the two of the three best fullbacks in world football (Phillip Lahm being the other). Both a joy to watch.

*not a shameless plug.

With the shower you have at your club there's no guarantee you'd suddenly start winning games...even a league lower.

Official Silkyman Translation™ - The non-United player of course. And while I'm at it let me bring up a completely unrelated ex-United player too. Thanks for reading.
It seems that every post you write these days is about Silks. I preferred the sarcasm tbh...

Cole. Evra had a couple good seasons (come at me, Renegade) while Cole was consistently good until he signed for Roma. He was also a true born winner. I liked the fact that he retired as soon as he heard he may have to sit on the bench for England. Shows what kind of player he was.
He was probably a bad person off the pitch but at least he didn't go on fucking strike at the World Cup!

A more recent poll would be who is the world's second best left-back behind Alaba? Marcelo or Maxwell? And converse.

Think of it as my third album - I'm not a performing monkey but I might be forced to take inspiration from my earlier material if the fans revolt.

I thought Cole shaded it. Cole was brilliant at the back and very good at going forward. Era was good at the back and brilliant at going forward. I don't think anything would have changed had they swapped clubs, apart from Cole being the detestable prick that is required of being a Chelsea player.

You can't really argue that Evra came across as a lovely person, either.

What did he do wrong? He certainly wasn't spewing on women and telling them they should be honoured.

Don't you remember? He bit all those players, racially abused that fella (can't remember his name) and then cried like a little bitch when he didn't win the league.

No, my opinion of Evra has nothing to do with Suarez-gate. He just comes across as a c*nt, especially after the world cup debacle. Seems to take himself extremely seriously.
