Dunstable to Borehamwood, what... an hour tops? Takes me 80-90 minutes to get from Luton to Ruislip.

Maybe 'Wood being in the National League will make it more of an attractive day out.

Nothing can make going there an attractive day out! Still cringe every time I pass Borehamwood & Elstree station on the train.

It depends where he lives. I can't tell looking at this on the mobile site.

Except I'm too lazy to look properly!

Doesn't make too much of a difference in my book, I live in London but I got to a fair amount of our games when we were in the Evo-Stik North. Maybe I'm just far too obsessed with Chester though :pond:

We once had a Herts Senior cup match at Underhill between Barnet and Boreham Wood abandoned because of their "fans" invading the pitch, including some on bicycles!!
I got that wrong, it wasn't a Herts senior cup match, it was a cup called the Studio Cup which was supposed to be an annual charity match between our 2 clubs. Not surprisingly this was the last match played in this competition.

Their ground is better than it has been. They opened a new 1009 seat stand at the start of last season but the rest of the ground is pretty small.
They have no fanbase of their own though.

They avergaed 313 at home this season. They got 2000 for the play off final so they get people out for the "big games". However, they get a large group of "fans" that go to cause trouble. The Whitehawk goalie was attaked by a "fan" during the pitch invasion at the end of the game and in their play-off game at Havant, a large mob went into the Havant end and started fighting with home fans (thats just in the last month!!). 20 people were thrown out. They have a gained a bad reputation over the years for this sort of behaviour. Next season, they will definitely get crowds below 200 on Tuesday nights for sure (maybe even Saturday games). I can see them getting outnumbered by away fans on numerous occasions.

Their ground:

When was this? I've never heard of it!
It must have been in the late 1960's or in the 1970's. I was at the match but cant remember exactly when it was. I will ask for some more info on our own forum, there must be others who remember it.

Welcome to the forum!

Crowds less than 200?! Whats the record for the lowest Conference gate?

I remember Fisher Athletic having a couple of sub-200 crowds in 90/91 - 175 against Boston Utd and 130 against Northwich Victoria.

Some digging gives me these three:
172 (Hayes & Yeading United vs. Bath City, 23/08/2011)
150 (Redditch vs. Maidstone United, 29/12/1979)
121 (Gateshead vs. Trowbridge Town, 10/12/1983)

As I said before Fisher Athletic definitely had those two crowds of less than 200 during the 90/91 season.

If Borehamwood were a bit bigger they'd be a very decent derby for us, it's all of three miles from Underhill and not much further from the new place. I'm fairly certain there's quite a few Barnet fans dotted about the town too.

As for an away day, well you'd be better off drinking in London or even Barnet. To put it politely, it's not got much going for it...

There's a weatherspoons by the station... If you don't mind being told to fuck off by the local wood fans snorting coke in the bathroom. Other then that it's quite a nice pub - good food, pool table etc..

I've never met a Barnet fan from Borehamwood; that's like someone from Newcastle following Sunderland. There are no pubs near the ground, but who the hell wabts to go drinking in Barnet? It's a dump.

No because if we won the game I still would have been told to fuck off in the local pub by a coked up neanderthal before the game, Francis Duku still would have been punched by a BW supporter on the field of play during the game & the FA still would have done FA about it after the game.

Oh & your fans probably still would have come over to us offering out fights at full time.

Your fans all angels of course, and the entire population of Borehmawood, Neanderthal and coke snorting.

I think it's a given that fans of non-league clubs behave in a civilised manner. That's why Borehamwood's stand out.

Seen a few pics on this site which would indicate that my home town is not unique in that respect, but what the hell; we are on our way up, and leave the likes of Kingstonian far behind.

I think Borehamwood "fans" could be in for a shock if they turn up at Wrexham, Tranmere, Lincoln and Grimsby next season looking for a scrap.
