Commercialisation of English football (Please help!)

I am a final year sports business student and I am currently conducting research for my dissertation which evaluates the impact commercialisation has had upon fan culture within English football across the different leagues.

I have completed this.

My gut says commercialisation has probably improved the standard of football as the top clubs have tended to buy in talent from abroad and some of the youngsters have been forced down the pyramid, although it's very difficult to compare the quality without re-watching the football of a decade or so ago.

It also seems to have benefitted the players quite well, as they seem well-paid in League Two, although obviously Mansfield are paying good wages so this may alter my view.

Our ticket prices are quite expensive. They are at the point now where some weekends I feel priced out especially if the football is poor. The extra few £ are probably not worth that much to the club if it puts me off once every couple of months.
