So happy it's not Fylde.

Same here. 950 fans there today for a club chasing the top level of non-league football. Wonder how long it'll take before their owners realise that there is no desire for another bankrolled hobby club on the Fylde coast after Fleetwood grabbed that goose.

Their owner is a very bitter little man and Fylde is his own personal vanity project to boost his ego. He won't care how much money he wastes until he goes bust himself.

950 fans for the biggest game in the clubs history is a disgrace, I assume a quarter of that were Guiseley fans too!

Chorley must be favourites, given Guiseley's ability to find new and exciting ways to blow a Conference North playoff.

What's the average attendance in the conference these days lads?

Here are the figures for each team:

http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/confprem/attendances

There are some impressive crowds for the so-called bigger teams, especially if you look at the maximum attendances, not bad for fifth tier football.
I visited Stockport's messageboard when looking at a possible U's/Barrow Manchester double header in January and they seemed pretty miserable and pessimistic (at least about the football). I hadn't realised how relatively well their attendances were holding up.

I stood on one of the biggest terraces in the country at Edgeley Park for an FA Cup match in the 60's and, having met a few fans, I hope their journey back can begin next season.

Did you ever go to the Valley before they rebuilt it? There was a terrace along one side of the pitch, which was unused when I went there in early-85, that was absolutely huge. I couldn't guess how many it held when it was in use, though I once heard that at one time Charlton had the biggest ground in London other than Wembley, so I guess the whole ground must have been at least 70k.

Didn't do football between 1970 and 2002 - mainly due to work and living in the middle of the fens.

Apparently the Popular Side terrace at Edgely Park held 16,000 in one block, for an FA Cup match with Liverpool in 1965. I was there in Dec 1968.

The Valley had crowds of 70-75,000 pre and, a few times, post war but I don't know the capacity of the East Stand for those matches or whether it was split. It must have been over 20,000.

So the play-off finalists are Chorley, Guiseley, Boreham Wood and Whitehawk. Two from that lot....blow me, just end everything now.

Only Whitehawk would have enough to stay up/do better with the squads as they are just at this moment. The thought of 200 home fans makes me want to weep though when you have the likes of Stockport and Boston a level lower.

They really are a terrible bunch. In fairness to Chorley though, they'd get four figure gates regularly, it's just our very brief history with them which has left a very bitter taste.

Chorley are a decent enough side for non-league and have good crowds.

The others though ffs.

I went to watch Chorley play my then local non-league side Lincoln United in 2002 and they brought a coach load to that, they playing in the NLP division one south having fallen down the leagues.
They had a big cup win in the 80s I think (Wolves or Brum).
Bar Guiseley all four are miles from us too!
Boston cocked up royally 2 up and let it slip away against 10 men.

Haha you all just might miss us next season! (hahah)

I think Guiseley deserve it for all their recent playoff near misses! Chorley would be so bad though.

If they go up I fancy Chorley would muster 2,000 home fans for the big games at Victory Park and would travel in decent enough numbers for a newly promoted side.

Can't see Chester bringing many to Chorley this time round. :animatedf:

5th season in a row, same as us but we sadly never won one in the FL (2003 to 2007) and then four years later!!!!!

On second glance, I may have done a small disservice to Chorley - I think Guiseley are going to be too strong this time though, especially considering the former have just gone through a brutal 120+ minuter.

Other one is very difficult to call. Horrible feeling Whitehawk may shade it with their greater experience in the first XI.

Anyone but Flyde, then I was slightly less enthusiastic about Boston who understandably don't travel terribly well despite having a class ground down there. Out of Chorley and Guiseley, Chorley edge it for me as it's a good away day, much better ground, then they have a good following. Guiseleeds took 200 to us in a playoff game, that's their level. They have a very good social club though, but of course that'd be out of bounds in the Conference. So good luck to the Magpies, although I feel it's Guiseley's season.

Borehamwood and Hawkwind though? Makes Hayes & Yeading seem like Barcelona.

Watched Basingstoke and Whitehawk y'day and 'stoke utterly failed to show up. I've seen them a fair few times this year and it was by far the worst they've played. Of the southern pair, far prefer Whitehawk up, only if we go there on a Tuesday night though. A day on the piss in Brighton beforehand would be nice, preferably in August or September.

Big bottle job from Boston. 2-0 up and had the advantage twice in pens I think.

The Chorley keeper celebrating the penalty miss on 9mins is like Keown v Van Nistelrooy II.

Some of those penalty 'misses' show just how fine the lines are.
