Carrying on from where we left off.

Wealdstone 4-2 Chelmsford City (Att: 708)

Incredibly:

1) We've managed to do the double over someone else before it happened to ourselves.
2) Scoring 3 goals in a league game had not yet happened this season, scoring 4 was on a par with the resurrection of Lazarus, a genuine miracle.

Goals from new boy Michael Corcoran, Elliott Godfrey, Sean Cronin and Matt Ball saw us move up to 13th place and mid-table mediocrity which suits me down to a tee.

Roll on a trip to the seaside at Eastbourne next weekend!

Think I spotted a Maidenhead fan on here too. Hopefully he may come and join this thread soon

That's mnb who has shamefully betrayed Bracknell Town, tut-tut.

I should probably say thank you to Ebbsfleet for Bricknell and Huke. Just what the doctor ordered!

How did you/they get on?

Well, well, well.

An opening ten minute spell fucked us right over! Sutton came out of the blocks while we were stuck in the dressing room. They played pretty well which surprised me given how turgid they were at our gaff.

We got back into the game slowly and the new lads showed signs of life. We will pick up. As long as we see an improvement on Saturday then I am happy. We will finish in the play offs and then from there anything can happen. I for one will take a play off spot, given how poor we were for the opening four - five months of the season.

696 at Sutton apparently. Probably a couple of hundred of us which is ok. Not great mind.

Roll on Braintree.

Joe. I'll give you a first hand synopsis on the performance of Michael Corcoran next weekend. He performed well on Saturday from what I've read.

Somebody posted on our forum that we're 8 points from the play-offs and 8 points from the drop zone. The absolute definition of a mid-table team.

As I said, he will do well for you. Just wrong time, wrong Club with us.

Not much mention of Basingstoke in this thread. Went to see them Saturday against Gosport, though they went behind they dominated the game equalizing in the 90th+4 through the very excellent Tom Bird. They are my hometown club, but as with most people in Basingstoke of my generation, have no love for them. I went really to catch up with a couple of old mates, Towns Louis Soares and Boros Matt Paterson. I know they started the season well, but fully expected them to fall away by now, but they are still there. Thoughts from anyone else who has seen them, God forbid they make a run and actually go up.

Forgive me for asking but why is that?

I wasn't there but Basingstoke are the only team we've 'outplayed' this season, they won 1-0 thanks to a 90th minute header. Daylight robbery was one of the quotes attributed to the defeat on our end.

We were slightly the better side away at Basingstoke but they scored a freak free kick and won the game.

Totally dominated them here in the FA Cup but their keeper saved them and they scored two in the last 15 to win.

Missed the league game against them here but they won 5-1 so I'll say no more on that one.

Long story, but the board there have always only been in it for themselves. So many good young players never got a chance there as they weren't related to a member of the committee. Rowan Vine is a good example, I'm good friends with his Dad, Rowan played for all the good local team and stood out as one to watch. He trialed at B'stoke but being and 'outsider' was told he wasn't good enough. A week later he signed for QPR. Then there is the current Chairman. He is fucking loaded, and wanted to get involved a long time ago and change a lot of things about the club, but kept getting black-balled because he is foreign and he would have put noses out of joint. He is now there but 10 years too late. A worse bunch of self serving fuckers you couldn't hope to meet.

We've gone back in time. Jack Evans is a midfielder if I remember correctly?

Eastbourne Borough 1-1 Wealdstone (Att: 763)

For the first time all season, we were robbed. Excellent value for the 3 points but not for the first time we concede in the 90th minute. Matt Ball put us 1-0 up in the first half finishing off some well worked build-up play. We also had two guilt-edged chances to win the game after conceding, Matt Ball hitting the post with just the keeper to beat and then Michael Corcoran heading wide from 6 yards out.

CONTENTIOUS ISSUE - Eastbourne's 'goal'.

I hadn't thought much about Eastbourne's muted celebrations after scoring but now I know why, they scored a phantom goal. Richard Pacquette's header actually goes wide but ends up in via a tear in the net. This could only happen to us. I'll post two pieces of evidence and let you examine whether or not it is a goal:

11:00 onwards, watch it all.

It's not as the ludicrous as the Stuart Attwell 'goal' in the Watford vs Reading match a few years ago or the Brazil vs East Germany match in the mid-80s but it's still pretty bad.

I have a season ticket at Bracknell but I know a few people who go to Maidenhead games and pop along there a few times a season.

York Road is a lovely place to watch football and I think the club are well run in comparison to a lot of the basket cases at this level. Because they don't do silly things like throw money at players they're normally embroiled in a relegation battle. I'd worry for them if they got relegated - I think they'd find it tough to return.

This season has seen the introduction of STAR MAN DJ Campbell (who is playing for free for his friend, manager Hippolyte), though in truth he's not really got himself fit and the main man from what I've seen is Dave Tarpey.
