Can’t believe Wrexham are paying out another 12k a week on Hayden, just crazy money.

According to Carlisle fans his salary there was only 12k a year and the odd Man of the Match korma so you can see why he moved on.

How many times have you all seen Hayden play, out of interest? He's looked a bit dodgy every time I've seen him against us.

Personally, never. Carlisle fans are generally pretty positive about him.

Now you've said that though I wish we'd never signed him. Season is ruined.

I think that completes the Full House. Every player we have signed has been roundly criticised as not up to standard.

Relegation, confirmed.

I'm not saying it's a bad signing, just that I personally haven't been impressed. I think I've only seen him twice. The phrase "cracking signing" has been used in this thread, so I was just interested to know where that knowledge is coming from.

You know what football fans are like. No room for measured opinion there. Carlisle fans reports have been largely very positive about him though, which is encouraging

That might go under the radar because it's not Stockport or Wrexham, but that's a quality signing. Up there in terms of the best signings at this level this summer for me, was very good for Crewe in their L2 promotion team.

Barnet could surprise a few. In my latest prediction (not on here) I put them down in 12th, but could they even have a crack at the play offs?

Oh christ you just reminded me of the Carlisle MOTM reward

Is there anything Reynolds can offer to match up with it

A plate of poutine or something?

If they get Martin Allen out of his cryogenic chamber and thaw him out early enough they'll be able to have a crack at the title.

They will be Champions. You know its happening. And then they will be down here again in two or three seasons.

Its inevitable.

Not for me. I think in a different season perhaps they could sneak up but I do think there are a lot of other sides who are in a good spot with squads where the bulk have been together for quite a while. Mid table for them I think and certainly no shame in that after the past season's debacle.

You'll be happy to hear I have Dagenham in 6th.

You'll be less happy to hear that in the last couple of seasons, I have got the majority of the positions wrong.

Aha, you’re probably more optimistic than me for Daggers. Think we’re in a battle for 6th-10th personally. Don’t think we’re good enough defensively to be a play off banker.

Barnet are the new Macc.

Always apparently on the brink financially 27 minutes before opening day kick-off and then they suddenly assemble a quality squad of players and are right up near the top of the league.

Top lad. Very injury prone though and was inconsistent for us. On his day absolutely fantastic in League Two but, bar one game, totally ineffective for us in League One. I'm sure if you keep him fit he'll do a job for you lot.

He's clearly a unbelievable centre back. No doubt about it. What a player the lad is, especially when he did that thing.....with the thing.

*no Wrexham fan had heard of him until last Friday evening.

He was quality when we got promoted from league 2. Scored 12 goals i think and was with the season finishing early. He struggled at league 1 level, a mixture of injuries and inconsistancy. But if Barnet can get anything like what we did in our promotion season, I'd be shocked if there is many better players in the league. I was really expecting a Southern based league 2 club to pick him up.

Had been on trial at Stevenage apparently but they turned him down.

"Good on his day"
"If they can keep him fit"

Story of everyone down here.

In other news, Jamie Stott's gone on a season loan to Fylde. Good signing Fyldefan, he was class for us in the North, bit short for the top of this level but I was expecting someone like Halifax to pick him up.

Jamie Stott had gone on loan to Fylde for the season. We’ve had four go this week with Jennings retiring and Maynard, Stott and young lad Alli all going out on loan for the season.

Be interesting to see if anymore come in before the start of the season. Not including Connor Jennings we have 20 senior pros and one of them in Kitching is at the start of his comeback from injury.

We're all having lots of fun with these wages but on a serious note I've just heard on a podcast that The Athletic have reported that there's a Conference player on 9k p/w this season. So Mullin or Quigley? Wrexham and Stockport fans you can squabble amongst yourselves on that but until you decide who it is, the rest of us will have to do the only reasonable thing we can and assume it's both of them.

We haven't been on the brink financially since 1994.

Quigley is on absolutely nowhere near that. None of our players are. With Williams, Bennett, Maynard, Stott and a few others off the books, I think we'll be starting on a reduced budget come the opening day when you factor in those that have gone and those that have come. I think the plan is to reduce the squad (20 senior players as Who Needs Mourinho correctly states) and then if there are opportunities to add and refresh as the season goes, we'll look. This is a sensible project.

Yes, surprised we weren’t in for him. It’s no secret we need a centre back and Wild will know him from his Oldham days.

The two reasons I think we may have passed on him is we already have a left footed centre back in Bradbury.

Secondly, I’d say we are in need of a tall, dominant centre back as we currently lack that type of centre half which Stott never struck me as being that sort of player.

Yeah he's not a tall, dominant Centre half. He's your left side of a three type so your reason for overlooking him seems valid to me.
