Cant say ive seen Jackson play but i'd imagine he will just be a squad player behind Moult and Jennings. Good reports though. Much needed pace upfront

Andy Monkhouse confirmed on a year deal

Happy with that, nice experience to add to the squad, offered a contract by Rovers too so not like they didn't want to keep him and for once location works in our favour, and interesting to note he would have played for a few seasons with Hurst at Rotherham so Hurst will know him well.

Squad coming along nicely and good to have him and Arnold that can both play up front if needed now, so probably just another striker will be enough, especially as Hurst wants to keep us at or below 20 players by the sounds of things so the more versatile the players the better.[/

Great signing for you. Not really a winger I would say more left midfield who can attack/score goals and can also use his head. Very good passer of the ball and very intelligent in his play. Just what the doctor ordered.

Hopefully Sparrow does ok. Played his whole career at a higher level but doesn't look to have played a huge amount of football over the last few years. At 33 should still be pretty good at this level though.

Very good signing, gives us a decent blend of younger and older players.
He was a winger.
No Dan Bradley then, unless he's going come on trial?

Sincil Bank is going to double up as a fucking retirement home soon!

I could be proven wrong, but your recruitment process is pretty damn awful. I thought sides had started to learn signing a few has beens on their way down the leagues was a recipie for disaster?!

We've tried just about every process.

Last season, when Nat Brown (32) wasn't in the squad our oldest player was Alan Power (26).

Yes, there's Stanley, Sparrow, Beevers and Rhead but Tempest (21), Bush (23), Wood (23), Muldoon (21), Waterfall (24) added to the 6 young lads...

I suspect most in this league have 4 or so players who are 28-32.

Closer to a crèche than retirement home.

He barely played for us, but didn't look up to Conference Premier football any time he did. He might be okay at Conference North level though.
From what I can gather he did quite well at our level on loan last season so I'm hoping he can continue in a similar vein.

Hearn is 29, Bush is 23, Tempest is 21, Muldoon is 21, Waterfall is 24 and Wood is 23.

Reckon Sparrow could be a decent signing, personally. Wouldn't have minded if we'd have taken a chance on him.

Johnny Hunt signed on a one year deal. Fairly happy with that but not sure he'll be an upgrade on Gareth Roberts.

Shrewd signing, can play in 2 positions that we needed strengthening which probably kills two birds with one stone. I'd like to think we'd be getting a few more in though. A winger, a first choice striker, possibly another central midfielder and I've a feeling we'll want a first choice RB and potentially a back up LB.

Can't see us signing another RB unless its someone who can play LB as well, we have Nsiala if we need another RB. We may have lost three RB's this summer, but one was resigned because of an option in his contract and the other was a first year pro. Doubtful Hurst is going to have that many RB's again. Think East will be first choice and Nsiala will be back up, we need somebody who can give Robertson competition before we get another RB in.

We have 3 wingers now and 4 central midfielders, can't see us signing another there either. Plus Hurst said he was looking to sign 5 players this summer the other week, we have no signed three. We will be looking at another striker, someone who can play LB hopefully RB too. Anything else I guess will a bonus.

Burrow's left by mutual consent and has apparently agreed terms with another side in this league.

Bit harsh when we just sign a 34 year old, and already have Disley, Brown, Robertson and Gowling over 30!
I did think that, but I couldn't be arsed to check.

Be interesting to see who?
I presumed he would drop down to the Conference North
Nah, I think he'll do a decent job in this league. Quite capable of getting 8-12 goals a season.

I'd have kept him personally as a decent back-up but for all I know his wage might make him an expensive one.

Anthony Barry has now also left the club by mutual consent. Spent last season on loan at Accrington, expect him to move back up somewhere in the north west.

Good player with the ability to spray the ball around quite nicely, but can be frustrating as he has the tendency to pass it sideways and backwards a lot, and hit over ambitious diagonals.

Id like to think we would be interested in him as I believe he lives close to us? Probably not though.

According to the OS, Burrow is off to someone in the Conf National League and has already agreed terms.

Our recruitment process is pretty damn awful? I think we have done ok on the player recruitment front actually. Sparrow is a decent player with bags of experience, isn't it usually wise to have a good blend of old and younger players? Read mainly good reports from the Scunny fans about Sparrow and consensus of opinion is that he will be a very good CM in this league.

You probably know what Hunt is all about but if you don't; came through the ranks as a left back but spent 90% of the time with us playing centre midfield, left wing and left forward. He's solid enough, but incredibly average. He had a strange habit of popping up with goals when playing further forward which somehow got him the move to Cambridge which defied his actual ability. He's not particularly good at anything, just all round average but is solid enough for you lot I'd say.

Tommo will be class at that level. I always thought he was good when played at CB, he just isn't a RB as Wembley showed.

This Jackson kid I have no idea about. It's just hopeful punt of a signing it seems, won't be expected to do too much.

I think Lincoln's recruitment has looked pretty good this summer, arguably amongst the best in the league.

Their signings look better on paper then Wrexham's or ours do for example, and I expect them to do well, providing Moyses is capable of managing them properly.
