JMD confirmed. 18 month deal. I will give my thoughts at the end of the season…

Looks solid enough to me, reminds me of when we signed Nathan Arnold, not quite league standard but easily good enough for this level

We need someone else out wide with the perma crocks in our squad, but I'm relatively uninspired by this one. That's often the case with Hurst signings though, hopefully he can get the best out of him. Takes some pressure off Sousa and Clifton. Clifton to start in the middle vs Daggers now hopefully.

Nice of us to let one of our best players, who we had on a 2 year contract, go to Grimsby on a free.

Was on trial with us in the summer, but Phil Brown didn't fancy him.

Must be a fairly good signing then.

Sounds like he regretted signing for you after he heard we wanted him a day after he signed and forced your hand eventually.

Yeah, didn’t mean we had to just release him though.

For some strange reason we were never playing him. Partly due to signing a load of wingers/attacking midfielders in pre season then deciding to play 5-3-2.

Sounds like just the lad you want around the place.
He will be home sick in 2 months and will ask to leave, thought he might of kicked on at Woking and considering he did not like playing up north for the likes of Lincoln and Wrexham this seems like a bizarre move. He’s a wasted talent.

Yes but what about the Woking manager - the average Grimbarian will sound like a Kensington luvvie after listening to him...

Not sure he fitted in with the basketballers at Woking. However I’ve always thought he seemed a bit of an arse so I’ll just have to see how he gets on. We’re not making the big moves that other Brothers are…

Was with us for about 6 months a few years ago, Another one with bags of ability but a poor attitude and lazy, although he was young at the time. He was homesick apparently. good for a couple of worldies a season

Hurst does have history of having success with players with supposed bad attitudes though, Jon Nolan, Scott Neilson, Omar Bogle and McAtee just from the top of my head all thrived under him.

Although saying that, I did watch Stefan Payne headbut his own fucking man during a game last season and we did try and fail with Richard Brodie once so it’s not a completely clean record.

From what I can gather from all of our years down here, you want football league level players if you want to get out of this league. JMD is a mummy's boy who struggles to make a big impact North of the M25. Maybe this will be his turning point, maybe it won't.

Stockport County.
Jordan Maguire-Drew is one of the most London/Greater London non league winger names ever. Followed by Ephron Mason-Clark of Barnet.

Just googled Maguire-Drew. He should have gone to Dagenham. He's not got a Northern enough face. Will never ever produce anywhere north of Coventry with a face like that. Proper Cockney looking guy.

It all began with Keanu Marsh-Brown.

Another mummy's boy by all accounts.

They're always an inconsistent winger who can cause you problems on his day, invariably does it more often on his home team's patch. Will have one really good season at a club which attracts interest from higher.

Definitely an M25 footballer. Gets a nosebleed anytime he ventures outside of there.

Monday early afternoon: Town sign Jordan Maguire Drew, time to get in the WhatsApp group and on Thefishy and proclaim that this is an uninspiring bit of business. After all, I've seen him play a few times before. May as well repeat these same thoughts on 1FF. Remember to add something about how we can't possibly compete with the Wrexham/Stockport/Chesterfield budget.
Monday late afternoon: Read Paul Hurst interview, listen to JMD's interview and read the thread on the Woking forum. Maybe it's a bit more of an exciting signing than I gave it credit for.
Monday evening: Start toying with the idea that JMD might just be the missing piece. Fox and Clifton to go back into box to box roles and form a formidable partnership.
Monday night just before bed: Realise JMD is absolutely nailed on to bag a goal against former club Dagenham on Saturday.
Tuesday morning: Wake up already excited for Dagenham, we're probably gonna win now that we have JMD. Great bit of business this.
Tuesday mid-morning: Open up 1FF to discover all the Wrexham and Stockport fans saying he can't play up North. The same idiots that were wrong about Jon Nolan. How dare they slag off JMD? Defend signing of JMD at all costs and ignore Jacob's little dig about his attitude.

I’d understand this point if it wasn’t for the fact none of those northern moves were permanent ones, or am I missing something?

"all the Wrexham and Stockport fans..." I can't comment on our friends from across the border but if ALL of our fans are saying the same thing that'll really be a first.

On his day a dangerous player a good set piece on him does start well at new clubs
Maybe Paul Hurst can get the best out of him.

At both us and Lincoln he signed on season long loans, which ended early (and he then suspiciously went to sogn for clubs closer to home). Maybe this being a permanent move will force the issue for him as he can't back out to somewhere nearer home.

Hes got a lot of talent. I always liked him with us, although as he got progressively less happy his performances waned. He's a few years older and needs to find a home- if that's with you lot it could be a good signing.

A little point about Nolan as he got mentioned. Lincoln fans were always slagging him off, not us. Wrexham fans were pretty unhappy we didn't keep him- we basically got him fit and as soon as he started to look good Grimsby gazumped us, you swines.

Nolan was a little annoying ginger scrote wasn't he?

I can't make an informed opinion of him as I was probably climbing up the walls chasing frogs during the time period he played for us but I don't think Gannon liked him so fair play to whoever got his career going.

Tuesday lunch time: Google 'Pictures of Jordan Maguire Drew on holiday'.

Okay no seriously, enough of this nonsense now...

JMD's already talked about settling in the area, which is a big thing on Hurst's checklist of new signings, but it's also easy to say one thing and not act on it so I guess time will tell on that.

He also talked about how Woking's style of play didn't suit him. How he's attacking and likes to add a creative quality, chipping in with goals and assists...which made me think that Hurst must be exceptionally good at marketing his own football philosophy. That's great Jordan, you can chip in with as many goals and assists as 46 1-0 wins will allow.

Was Hurst that got his career going the season we went up. Was only with us half a season, but he's definitely in with a shout for best CM this division has seen over the last decade or so during his time with us.
