He's a bigger legend than Ronnie, physically anyway.

I predict a season of struggle again next season for the Millers.

Walkley.
Unless it's Chesterfield or Swindon come up I reckon the 3 that come up will all have bigger budgets than us next season.
Bristol City, Preston and Sheffield United definitely would and MK Dons will be at least as good as ours so it's an obvious prediction to make.

However, I'm pretty sure Wigan, Fulham, Reading, and Brighton wouldn't have expected to struggle like they have so that proves money isn't everything.

I'm sure we will give it our best shot, we will no doubt shopping at Aldi but all the players we recruit will no doubt have a point to prove and we will supplement those with decent loan signings where possible.

We managed to make some Championship teams look pretty ordinary with a first eleven that featured 5 or 6 players that came through the leagues with us, so hopefully we should improve next season.

Here's hoping anyway.

When you're in there, show Evans what a salad looks like

Will Tony allow Sideshow Steve to bring in 30 odd players again or will he tighten the belt in that regard?

Evans needs to unearth some gems not really on the scatter gun approach, a settled team that is improved on should help.

That makes us both happy then.
Though your chairman clearly did.
Maybe he wants success more than you.....just a thought. :)

We didn't actually approach him.

We all know Evans and MacAnthony get on and we all know Evans is a fan of the club. He, himself, when ruling us out said 'right club, wrong time'.

Steve Evans will manage Peterborough United one day, I have no doubt about that but i won't be happy about it.

Believe it or not, success can also come without a fat, obnoxious gobshite in charge.

He has said on local radio that he wants to boss Peterborough at some stage of his career so when he decides his time is up at RUFC then I would wish him all the best.
It can't be easy living away from his family and no-one could have done a better job for us than SE has done so if PUFC is his dream we shouldn't stand in his way when the time comes.

TBH I think it could turn out to be a really bad move for him.
If he failed at Peterborough, he would be exposing his family to all sorts of abuse,we all know how nasty it can get when managers fail.
People like you who already have an apparent hatred for the man would be waiting in the wings hoping he failed.
It could all get very nasty and living locally there would be no escape from the criticism.

I know this is true because we have a few on Millersmad who love it when we lose a few games.
Normally they are kept in the background because of our success but.they are there all the time lurking and can't wait to vent their spleen when we lose.

The thing is though for every Rotherham fan that thinks he is a fat, obnoxious gobshite there are 200 that see him for what he really is.
A very hard working, sincere bloke who has brought us from Division 2 to the Championship.

Still we are all entitled to our opinions.

Do you know something I don't......are we gonna spend some money this year?
I mean real money, like other Championship clubs spend.

Sometimes success can blind people though. If he hadn't had the success with you he wouldn't be the hard working/sincere bloke that you see him as now, he would be that fat obnoxious prick (I find it funny how every post insults his weight) that everyone else in football views him as.

If you listened to Radio Sheffield tonight, he admitted he got it wrong with his signings last close season so we may see a different approach.

TBF though we are always going to have some players fail because of the level of the market we operating in.

Of course his success has altered my feelings towards him.

I didn't want him and was devastated to hear he was to be our manager.
Like most people on here I had listened to other people's opinions and formed my own from that information.
I was wrong.

He is a decent bloke, he lives in Rotherham during the week, drinks with fans in the town and will always speak to you if you approach him.
He has done endless work in the local community and at the hospital and comes across as really well on a one to one.

His weight makes him an easy target but is it really that funny to abuse people because of their weight, it's no more acceptable than abusing people because of their creed or culture is it?

No because you can do something about your weight...

He's a fat bastard, if he doesn't like being called a fat bastard then he should use the club's nutritionist to sort him out. Until then, he's fair game for size abuse.

I do find it a bit odd how someone who is around people in top physical condition all the time is perfectly happy to be such a fat mess.

To be fair, so did Orient and Tranmere. At least you are in the Championship next season and get to pass Go again.

Well done to Rotherham as well.

Nothing against Steve Evans (yeah all those tales of on-the-pitch antics and corruption don't make for very pretty reading, but no one is a saint, especially in football) and yes, they've had a fair bit of money to spend compared to when they last went up to this division under Ronnie Moore. But still they are punching above their weight, and to hold their nerve and get the results needed to stay up after their points deduction deserves a lot of credit as many teams would have collapsed in that situation. And last but not least, thanks for helping us get promotion and likely the title!

Perhaps you can aim for being first team in South Yorkshire next season, possibly for the first time in your history? ;)
