Most of us want the Mexicans out though.

And it would be difficult to fit them in as every nation except Brazil and Argentina has 3 teams going in the competition.

Something else I should mention, the flight times would make this impossible. Monterrey to Buenos Aires is already around 11 hours. Imagine Buenos Aires to Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

This can't happen, it would be a mess.

No worse than, say, Lisbon to Kazan, surely?

Lisbon to Kazan is 10 hours.

Toronto to Buenos Aires is around 13 hours.

And not all these players have all these luxuries like the South Americans in Europe have (like Suarez, Neymar, Messi) so I can see the fatigue definitely getting to them.

Fair point, but you can see why they've done it, they want 'name' players playing in a S. American competition in order to attempt to raise the profile a bit, wrongly or rightly it does make sense, and at the rate things are going, the CONCACAF Champions League could well overtake the Libertadores if the Yanks continue doing well (4 teams in the QF this season, all eliminated at that stage, but still), this may be an attempt at stemming that?

South American and Mexican football style is kind of similar in my view so I kind of have nothing against inviting them. But MLS teams in it sounds really discrepant, not just because of the different style but also as you said the factor it would probably decrease the places for South American teams plus there would be longer trips for both sides. In consequency the timezone for USA and South American public when one is playing at other's place can be not that acessible (I personally find really annoying when the matches are at México and aired at around 00:00 here). If it's a special edition - like Copa América Centenário as mentioned in the article - then fine. But to become regular competitors it's not that simple.
