Optimism is running high at Meadow Lane with new owners and a manager making bullish statements (should that be chickenish?). It will be interesting to see if it makes the team get better results.

In the return fixture County made us look like mugs with a 1-3 win. John Stead looked a really good player and our defenders were singing sea shantys. We've lost Alex Davey since then and changed to a three at the back system so hopefully we can deal with the threats posed.

The aforesaid three at the back system does mean we are more solid at the back but it does mean Dean Cox is used as a left wing back and Jordan Roberts does not get in the starting line up. I'm not sure if this is the best use of our talents but the results have definitely been better since we swapped so it's hard to moan.

very poignant that Audel and Forte both scored - two of the very few good players we have and both were mis-used under Sheridan.

I know Notts are in a false position but I don't get how we can go to Plymouth and give 'em a game and yet go down with a whimper against a team 2nd from bottom who are down to ten men!

Tip to opponents. We appear to be crap against a high ball into the box.

Crawley were awful, no offence but they were the worst team I've seen at Meadow Lane this season. Notts weren't fantastic defensively, but whenever Crawley had any chances they fluffed it. Barely troubled our keeper until notts went down to 10 men. Ashley Young's brother looked ok, but were really awful in front of goal.

It wasn't a top quality game today, saying that Notts played well and had a few good moves in patches, and a vast improvement on our performances under Sheridan. Nolan's really sorted the structure out, and playing 3 in defence was a bold move that paid off. Still lots to be done, especially getting Stead scoring again, getting more width and getting Forte scoring regularly again (although he looked more effective when Notts went down to 10 for some reason) but a good improvement and they would have been kicking themselves had they not won today. Massive victory given that Cheltenham draw and have a game in hand and Newport won. Couple more signings, and we could get a winning run going.

Drop Stead.
Play Forte up-front and not on the wing.
Sign an actual winger.

Connor; we've been told that we are the worst team to appear a few times now. We've also been told we are a good side.
I think the problem comes from sitting back away from home. This invites pressure and our midfielders are not good enough to stop the ball getting into the box. We also have problems in transitioning from back to front, again something that points to our midfield not being good enough, but once we are on the front foot we are a threat.
