Coutinho or Barkley.

Who would you sooner have in your lineup?

Didn't watch Everton much last season so i can't really comment, although Barkley looked very promising in his breakthrough season.

Coutinho has really improved since January last season, been adding more consistency to his game and he has improved the defensive aspect of his game, his fitness levels and his end product. Glad he's starting to get the recognition he deserves but he's merely in the "very good player" bracket now with the odd world class moment in him, he needs to be more consistent if he ever wants to reach his full potential. Big season for him coming up.

Again, Barkley is not good as a second striker/attacking midfielder. He's played deeper this season and been much better for it. If I wanted a centre mid I'd pick Barkley, if I wanted an attacking mid/second striker/number 10 whatever you want to call it, I'd pick Coutinho

Coutinho is also arguably better deeper as an #8 or whatever the term for the role is. He's also better than Barkley in either role.

Coutinho, by quite the distance.

Liverpool's best player also. Barkley has a lot to prove.

Shame he's not as good as Phillipe. As the poll shows.

I would take Coutinho now though I do think he is overrated. Inconsistent but with moments of total brilliance. Barkley long term, this season he has come on leaps and bounds already though. Last night he took the game by the scruff of the neck and was brilliant against Saints. Needs to prove it over the whole season though.

I wouldn't even take Barkley long term. It's not as if he's got years of potential development over the Brazilian, there is only 18 months between them.

This is a huge season for Barkley, he could be a big part of Englands Euro 2016 campaign!

Hmmm I seem to recall him being at the Copa America a few months back. Was I mistaken? ;)
You certainly were not, I went to Arsenal v Liverpool on Monday and Coutinho made Ozil look like Steven Ireland

Coutinho is good enough to play for Brazil.

Barkley has never played for Brazil.

Coutinho.....20 votes.
Barkley........8 votes.

This debate can now be put to bed. Thanks for the input all, it's as I suspected.
