Lainton injured again but it's ok because surely we have a goalkeeper with an ounce of experience in the squad.... oh no of course not!

This seems like the most comfortable 1-0 victory you could ever get for Cov. We are trailing but literally offerring nothing. I believe that will be 11 of the last 16 games we will have failed to score in. That is an appalling statistic at any level.

Typical Vale isn't it, opposition scores their only chance of the first half and we offer nothing in response. Been an issue away from home especially since Pages first full season in charge.

Be nice if we can at least make their keeper actually do some work now.

We won't though.

8 minutes stoppage time. For many teams who are leading this would be a major concern. I suspect not so much in this case.

Post again! Hit the post more times than we've scored this season now!

Brown has to go now surely?

Bottom of the entire Football League, utterly shameful. He should be fired but who knows with this clownshoes operation of a club. All I know is if something doesn't change quickly it may be too late to turn this around.

And if I hear "he needs more time" again I swear to god am going to hit the roof. He's had since January and his record is shocking.

It's just a repeat week after week, another 1-0 loss, hit the woodwork a couple of times, can feel a little unlucky but results count and he isn't getting them. Is it 9 games without scoring in 13 or something?

Shambolic. 18% win record. 22 players used already this season, players out of position, poor one dimensional tactics.

Needs doing asap to rescue the season. He just isn't manager material. Assuming defeat occurs Tuesday then FGR at home is massive. Failure to win that with them getting pasted week in week out and we will be in mega deep.

Weird game, think we'd have won by more had McDonald not been sent off as we were starting to threaten and had a few decent chances. As for the red card, looked an appalling decision in the stadium, but might have missed something that the highlights will show.

I'd be very, very worried if I were a Port Vale fan, they were potentially one of the worst sides I've ever seen us play.

I would be very worried if I was a Vale fan. We were pretty poor again and yet Vale made us look better than previous weeks.

A lowest Coventry home league crowd on a Saturday since 1958 today at 6,951. I think it will be below 6,000 on Tuesday against Carlisle. Very sad.

I'm not worried by the squad I'm only worried that we wait too long to sack Brown. Get rid of him and get an average manager and we will climb the league.

Problem is will we pay him off and if we do will we just give it Morgan!

I hope so, as a club Vale should not be lingering towards the bottom of the 4th tier.

I see a pattern emerging from what the Cov fans are saying about us... And I completely agree with them, not that I think you can come to any other conclusion. The moment it went 1-0 it was virtually game over.

Either way all the best to Cov for the rest of the season, if ever a fanbase deserved a change of luck its them. In actual fact I'd extend that to all of our fellow relegated clubs from last season.

Unfortunately as with yourselves and a few other clubs we have been victims of neglectful ownership and it's finally coming to a head.

As predicted, we can't keep a clean sheet, we don't score enough, and we don't set up to win games under Brown. His tenure is closer to coming to an end, and that's the only positive for us today.

It'll get worse before it gets better.

Another thing Brown 6 wins in 32 Caldwell 3 wins in 27. No surprise to see both vale and chesterfield in the bottom 2.

Brown's fault for signing an injury prone keeper in lainton 70 games at the age of 27.

Agreed on that, some may try to pass it off as bad luck but it's not. If you sign a player with an injury prone track record don't then be surprised when he gets injured. Just another sign of our shocking recruitment.

It's just asking for trouble playing 4 centre backs and two big lads up front. It's like it's being done on purpose. We've played one team that's had a decent half hour and the rest have been shite, yet we haven't scored for ages.
We have some ability, Wilson, Barnett, montano, kay, Worrall have all played at a higher standard and most in decent teams recently. There's got to be a team in there.
We're on our knees as a club and we're in the shit no doubt. If we go down we're finished as a club. Why can't we ever have some sustained success and stability.

To be fair defensively we have only let 3 in during the past four games but it detriments the attack and that's the problem.

Worrall is quality for this level. Wilson will be when fit.

Montano is crocked again (what a surprise)!

Pope I don't know, doesn't seem fit, when he left that season he'd started to struggle with injury and seems to just not be how he was.

Denton and Wilson should be in the LB and RB though. If shitting it defensively go 3-5-2!

Denton looks quality when I've been but doesn't start!

Turner seems to have disappeared too.

Smith has gone backwards, doesn't work with him and Kay. Mad Gav with him might work?

Have a feeling Brown will be gone this week but we will see, I've felt all along that Smurf will come riding in thinking he's the knight to save us showing us what we've missed and judging by what he's alleged to have said about coming back and sacking everyone if he has to remove Brown it may happen. Problem is same mistakes would likely happen again with a cheap option!

Read the posts from Port Vale fans on here before the game and thought you'd be exaggerating but to be fair you were all spot on. Don't want to rub salt into the wounds too much but there weren't many positives to take for you guys. I don't think we played any better than our last few games but we were comfortable until we went down to 10 men.

Glad Vicente had a good game after the stick he's been taking, hopefully he can kick on now.

I know it's probably too early to judge but I think we'll be battling for 6th/7th this season rather than top 3, I just can't see us scoring enough to get the auto places.

Just caught a glimpse of the "highlights" for the first time. Firstly great finish from the Cov player for their goal but what the fuck was the Vale defence playing at? Three of them just stood looking at each other and another one just backing off allowing him the space to run into. Look like a group of people who've never played together before.

Was appalling defensively. Close him down he doesn't score and had enough time before he hit it to get out to him. Did the same thing against Wycombe if I recall for their second!

Michael Brown cannot have long left surely? A Cov twitter fan sat near the PV bench and said the players were slagging the other players off, moaning etc.

A decent win for us, nearly ruined by the fat ref. Couldent keep up with play at all. Beat Carlisle tomorrow and draw at Cambridge Saturday and that would be a good week.

Good to see the training camp in Spain did the trick with team bonding.
