Only 27 games to go...

Seriously though, be interesting to see what Davis does team wise. With Lowe coming on and being the catalyst for the comeback, he'll likely start this game. Davis might well go with the diamond midfield, only problem is Bingham and King are pretty pish. If Inman is fit, I'd go 4-4-2, with Jones and Bingham in the middle, Lowe and Haber upfront with Inman and Colclough on the wings. Back 4 might be an issue if Ray isn't fit though, Guthrie can cover but Kingsley has gone(or is going) back to Swansea, so we'll have no LB signed. Brilliant. So, good luck guessing the team.

As for Oldham, they like us can't win for toffee at home. But, they are solid away from home. Unbeaten in 9, drawn 7. Quite bizarre really. So I don't think we can get too optimistic despite their defeat last night, they seem a totally different outfit on the road. Combine that with our home form and our crap record against them at Gresty Road in general and this has "away win" written all over it. 1-0 Oldham win, Higdon to score.

The Don plays for Oldham? I genuinely didn't know. What a time it was to be alive when we thought Higdon up front was as bad as it could get.

Yeah, he scored twice last night.

George Ray out for 3 months with a broken ankle. With no Harry Davis still and now no Kingsley either, we've suddenly gone from having a few options to having no options. Fantastic.

If Davis is giving it large to fans after one last gasp win at Colchester (to really put a gloss on that 7 wins in 38 record), fuck knows what he'll do if we win a second time in the same week.

We have a great record at gresty Road

We are unbeaten away from home

Crewe are poss poor at home

Those three points coupled with our recent form means a home win is odds on. We are good at losing to the poorer teams, ending others bad runs and losing at places we always win at, as soon as we start talking about the fact we always win there.

Bore fest 1-0 crewe

Trust me on this prediction because it's so obvious what will happen on Saturday.

After still not learning from his mistakes for the 210312th time, Steve Davis will tell Crewe to sit painfully deep irrespective of starting a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 formation, he never fucking changes. Do or die game at Colchester on Tuesday and the muppet was happy to sit back for nearly 55 minutes. Then he takes all the credit away from the team with his shameful antics at full time. The primary reason behind our shite home record since 2013 is because Sir Steve Davis decides that we must sit deep and allow the opposition abundant amounts of time on the ball and try to pick them off on the break which almost always fails given the opposition are set up as negatively as we are most the time. We'll sit deep and let Oldham have nearly all of the ball in the first half and we won't do anything until Oldham score around just before or just after the half. We'll then wake up but we'll be unable to break Oldham down as they'll put everyone behind the ball. It'll either be 1-0 or 2-0 to Oldham as a result. Fans will boo, then take to Twitter to call for Davis to be sacked which won't happen. You'll get McGarry and Morse saying all Saturday how a win at Colchester makes Steve Davis the perfect fit for the club and at full time you'll have idiots like that WUM who wrote the fans piece for the Chronicle a few weeks back who said we aren't in crisis telling us how much of a great manager Steve Davis is and that we're one or two pieces away from completing the jigsaw.

If that idiot adopted an attacking approach at home I guarantee even someone as incompetent as him could get us higher up in the table, but we play the worst brand of football I've ever seen a professional football club adopt. Oldham will get three points on Saturday despite being utterly bereft of confidence purely because of the restricted way our players play. My only hope is that some of the GRE boys end up in the Main Stand right near the board of directors and begin to launch a tirade of anti-board songs at them but I doubt that'll happen, so the purgatory will continue and those who feel Tuesday's result is a turning point will be brought back down to earth again.

Or we'll not lose, "Bringing on back the Good Times" will blast out at full time, McGarry & Morse will be in smug central, we'll have a fortnight of Crewe Chronicle articles convincing us that he is most definitely, 100% turning it around and fans will talking about how we'll finish mid-table.

Not wishing to boast but I've scared myself how accurate my November prediction has been.

After reading the last 2 posts (ignoring the Richie wellens one) it will be a lot nearer to the economy prediction than the first. We are absolutely shite

Richie is class and certainly the best midfielder we have had at this club during our stay at this level. I'd have a wellens in his prime back here over any other player in that time.

Timely, can I have the lottery numbers?

I always knew Davis would turn it around.

Crewe are going to get themselves out of it I reckon, they've done exactly the same for the last two years. Start off the first 3 months of the season looking like a conference relegation outfit only to hit a decent spell around Christmas and drag themselves towards the safety total.

Good solid win. First of the season that didn't flatter us, I think. Oldham were pretty awful though, our defence was pretty ropey (especially first 20 mins) and they got nowhere.

Hopefully can push towards the top 10 now. Hope we have a big compo fee for SD if someone comes sniffing after him.

Can't remember I saw a team look that toothless against us. Usually even the worst teams have a few efforts on goal, but Oldham didn't manage a single dangerous effort on target. Seriously poor performance from them.

Ajayi looks like an excellent player, solid debut from him. Colclough was good, Jones got better as the game went on and the front 2 worked their socks off. King, despite scoring, continues to not offer anything else of value. He'll have earned himself another 10 starts off the back of that goal.

Pleased with the win. Roll on Donny in 2 weeks time.

We are absolutely doomed. This will be the year we finally get out of this league. Sadly it'll be via the trap door. What a depressing club.
