Yep, getting that out the way first. Poor title, I'm no good with witty stuff like that.

Anyway, after another poor display and defeat, we return home to face Bury. Now, every fan can see we should switch away from the 4-3-3, but we won't. It'll be the same XI that started against Coventry I've no doubt.

As for Bury, somehow they've managed to concede more goals in the league than we have so far, which is pretty...impressive? Terrible? Does give me a glimmer of hope that they are seemingly quite open at the back. But obviously they do have some excellent options upfront in Pope, Clarke and Rose, plus tidy midfielders like Soares and Tutte. What sort of formation do Bury play out of interest Shakers fans?

This game is massive for Davis. A win regardless of performance and the wolves go away for the time being. A draw with a positive performance and again I think people will just about accept it. But if we lose, I would be interested to hear the crowds reaction at FT. I would also be interested to see what sort of crowd attends. Sub 4k home fans? If so, how much below 4k?

Really is a big game. A win and we go into the Wigan game with a bit of confidence. Draw wouldn't be a terrible result, but a defeat would really turn the heat up on the manager. Think we'll lose 2-1, Dalla Valle for us, Pope and Clarke for Bureh, because they usually score against us.

Garratt
Turton Nugent Ray Guthrie (preferably a new LB instead of Guthrie but SD clearly doesn't care)
Fox, Bingham, Atkinson
Inman, Haber, Colclough

That'll be the team more or less (King might start over Atkinson) but we won't win this one. We'll give Bury a goal headstart then we'll start playing, but if we equalise at any point we won't go looking for the winner, Dull Davis' emphasis is to draw and pick teams off on the counter, so expect Bury to have about 20 shots to our 5. Bury to win comprehensively, hopefully the GRE wake up and start chanting for the removal of Davis if things look bleak too, because until we do that Davis is staying firmly in charge and the dire football will continue.

Crewe 0-3 Bury and Pope to score at least one of them.

We will lose and then we will have to put up with Flitcroft saying he is in deep thought.

Need a win, must win? Can we keep a clean sheet? We know we can score but it's at the other end we have big problems. A win at any costs will suffice for now but needs addressing sooner rather than later.

1-1

I genuinely don't know what to think of that game.

Positives we looked good going forward and scored 3 in a game which is a rare feat under Davis.

Negatives shocking defending, negative whenever we take the lead and static and pedestrian play once again.

Sign an attacking fullback Davis for Wigan next week please...

Turning on the manager who got you promoted, only four games into the new season.
Classy.
Yes I'm turning on a manager who scraped promotion last season despite having the best squad and a shit ton of money... And the same manager who has managed to throw 2 games away in a week by going defensive for no reason

That's fair enough I think, we've stuck by Davis believing he is a good manager because he got us promoted, when actually he is a total buffoon who had players like Powell, Westwood, Murphy and Aneke to save him.

Fuck off did you have the best squad.

Burton did, clearly. Shrewsbury probably had a better one too.

That was one of the most bizarre games I've ever seen. Got an absolute gift for the openign goal, some shambolic defending and King cooly tucked it away. But for the rest of the first half, we were utter gash. Disorganised, mistakes all over the pitch, crap on the ball, crap off the ball.

Turton got done like a kipper by the impressive Mayor, not sure Garratt should be getting megged mind. Also not sure how. once Turton got turned, Mayor was allowed a free walk into the box and the time and space to finish. Our 2nd was another bit of fortune. Good delivery by Bingham, Ray and Nugent were getting wrestled all over the place, it hits Nugent, deflects across the goal and Coco has a tap in from a yard out. Pope could and should have scored twice before they finally did equalise, they also had a goal rightly disallowed for offside. Yet more comically bad defending by Guthrie and Nugent, falls to Soares for an easy finish. How it was 2-2 at HT I don't know. We should have been finished by that point, yet another team that can't seem to hit the target on a regular basis.

2nd half and for the first 15 minutes, yet more awful play and we go behind through a combination of errors. James Baillie doesn't get out to his man and nobody closes down Rose, who has time to take a touch and blast home. For the 10 minutes until Cooper came on, we looked likely to concede another. But then, surprise surprise, we bring on an extra attacker for a midfielder and Bury dropped off, allowing us to come back into it and we got an equaliser. Fair play to Inman, picked it up, ran at their defence and scored a tidy goal. Last 10 minutes we looked more likely to nick a win, but instead of bringing on LDV or Saunders and going for it against a flagging Bury, we sit on the point. Fair enough! :ffs:

On the first 60 minutes, it was criminal that we were still in the game. But we finished strongly and on the basis of the 2nd half, we probably deserved a point. However, our play for the first hour was the worst I've ever seen from an Alex side. The football we've played this season on the whole is easily worse than the dross served up under the dark days of Holland, Gudjon and the final few months of Dario. There is no identity to this team. We've scored 5 goals in 2 games and I'm not sure how. Relying on blind luck, goals out of nothing, teams not destroying us in 1st halves when they should. The football is eye gougingly awful. King looks like a child playing mens football, Bingham looks like he's playing 2 levels too high for his ability. Nugent is slowly proving the doubters right, making some incredibly daft decisions. Ray had a mare today, Turton too(although Ollie was fine when he went to LB bizarrely). Haber can't lead the line by himself, how much more evidence does Davis need FFS?! Think LDV must have said something to SD at Scunny, because he got hauled off early in that game, only had a short cameo on Tuesday and never even got off the bench today. Easily the best goalscorer we have and now he can't even get games because our deluded fuckwit of a manager won't play him in a 2 upfront. Clueless SD, clueless.

We struggled with the 4-3-3, but as soon as we got an extra attacker on and had 4 on the pitch, we looked much much better. Must be a coincidence eh Steve? :hb:

We were very fortunate yet again today. We will get stuffed in one of the next few games, probably next week. Don't think the likes of Grigg and Davies will be as generous as Pope was today. Davis is living on borrowed time.

As for Bury, they played really well for the first 60 minutes. Pressed us and stopped us playing(not hard mind!). But they ran out of steam in the last 20 minutes, allowing us back into the game. Got some really tidy players in their team and a strong attack, but their defence is shocking. But Danny Mayor was almost unplayable today, very impressive display from him.

Oh well, onto Wigan.
