Our game on Saturday against our divisional CUFC acronym-sake (though looks like Colchester will join us next season) represents a last shot for both of us at the play offs. A defeat for either ends their chances while a draw probably kills it off for both of us too. It really is winner takes all.... or at least stays in contention.

In the reverse fixture up north in August, we saw a 4-4 draw with both sides displaying the tactical nous and attacking flair of a Kevin Keegan-led Newcastle, proper gung-ho stuff. Both sides need to win this so it could be the same again. Probably be a damp squib. :)

Sounds like it is just left back Haynes who is a question mark (aside from long term injured Corr, Newton and Taylor). So we should go something like:

Norris

Furlong
Coulson
Legge
Haynes/Clark

Ledson
Dunne

Williamson
Berry
Dunk

Spencer

Ismail may start in place of Williamson I guess but we seem to have a reasonably settled line up at the moment.

Not sure what to expect from Carlisle but the Jabo-led gung-ho goal machine seems to have gone at least.

Prediction: we'll stuff the fuckers. 4-0

I think this game will finally see the end of the playoff push as far as we're concerned. We don't even look like scoring anymore, it's hit and hope once we've played a couple of passes between Gillespie, Raynes and Ellis. I hope Curle returns to the tactics used earlier in the season, including that 4-4 match against Cambridge.

I predict a low scoring draw or a 4-1 victory for the fake CUFC.

Recent history suggests having won our last game we won't win this one and will in fact probably lose it, but that's got to change sometimes I suppose and if we can win this one and follow it up on Tuesday then it'll make the last few games interesting at least.

I'm no Haynes fan but I sincerely hope he's fit to play, I know Clark filled in briefly at left back last week and did OK but Newport were utter cack, I'd rather not put that massive square peg in the round hole and utilise him in midfield (preferably instead of Ledson, but we can all dream).

Actually looking forward to this which is something I can't say about many games this season, tough game but I'm hoping we'll sneak it.

2-1.

I'd like to agree with Laker on both team and score - but, to be fair, I can't see Carlisle being that generous or us that adventurous. 3 - 1 after a late goal from Willo to settle the nerves.

Should be a good crowd and, with the team pumped up for it, a decent atmosphere for a Saturday 3 p.m. kick off.

I'll be interested to see how Curle responds to the situation/opportunity. Despite the reality of both our track records and even without a screw up from Wombles, Tuesday night should be much more fun if Carlisle can manage a win and that will clearly be our approach - at least to the second half.

Once we've heard Coconuts, I'll be rooting for the Cumbrians again........and Daggers, Orient and Pompey.

CUFCmk3 - the latest design, the more refined and the better equipped version (a/c included) 0
CUFC mk1(the original but outdated, very basic version) 0

Both sides will set out for a point, even though a point means zilch to both sides aspirations, BUT Curle and Derry will say afterwards that their respective sides are still in with a shout and refuse to rule out the play offs.

A group of us are taking a Carlisle fan on a pub crawl before and after the game.

The result of the match will be both inconsequential and quickly forgotten. It's like a continuation of the Conference wilderness days.

And Donaldson.

The last 9 meetings have been 5 wins and 4 draws to Cambridge (unless I've missed something) - not that it'll count for much on Saturday.

I forgot about Donaldo. That in itself is a sad reflection of how far he has fallen. :-(

The last team that were so negative on here and visting the Abbey were Exeter. Look at them now. I still think we'll win this 1-0.

We've only won 5 games since Christmas, and just 1 of those was away from home (Morecambe).
It could be a draw though, the reason we've remained reasonably high up the table is because we've drawn so many, while we don't lose too much.

If you're drawing with 2 mins ago, I hope one of your defenders does the decent thing and kicks it in his own net. No point both of us missing out on the play off race is there? :)

.......Especially to London opposition. I could live with Exeter getting in the play-offs ahead of us (been there before) or Carlisle but Orient or Wombles coming good would be really irritating.

I like Cambridge fans, they're very nice and respectful to us unlike them Oxford lot!

As for tomorrow there is only one tactic for us to considor and that is...

ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

No point in trying to be cautious and scrape a draw or a sneaky 1-0 win, forget about the defending just go for it!

Big match this and I'd rather our season end with us going all out for it. Don't want anymore performances like the Mansfield match, one to forget.

I don't understand, what's wrong with posting in a large font? It's better to see rather than having to look at tiny words on a screen and the option is there to use for free.

Cheers ref. 5 hour trip and you ruin the game within half an hour.

Never a red card. Where do the Football league get these fucktards from?

Well done on your win Cambridge, but my god the ref helped you!

The referee has just penalised our striker for getting grabbed and flung to the floor by Leon Legge.

I'm not even joking.
