Might as well stick all the Cup talk into one thread.

Away at Crewe for us in the Carabao Cup.

Lincoln, Mansfield, Scunthorpe plus a PL side TBC in the EFL Trophy.

Coventry at home in our annual game against them at MK1, with Northampton and Stevenage in the tinpot cup.

Anybody have any clue as to whether last seasons final is still going ahead or if it's been cancelled? I've not seen anything about it.

In a sensible decision by the powers that be, our usual pre-season friendly against Huddersfield has now been given Caribou Cup status...

Incredibly in the EFL Cup we've been placed in the same group as Norwich.

To put that into context we'd travel less miles in a 'localised' group to Morecambe!

Shambles trophy.

You won't have to play them away though, I'm pretty sure that's the point. I didn't think that other than being designated as North or South that the invited teams were localised.

A reasonable Caribou Cup draw for us. Sheffield Wednesday at home will be difficult but not impossible, with the winners away to Ipswich or Fulham. Again, difficult but not impossible.

In the meantime, the kids should be out in force for our Tinpot Trophy visit to Morecambe. Potentially Jay Lynch in goal, Jim McNulty at the back and nine current or former youth teamers.

Bradford away, then Liverpool at home for one of us.

The last time we drew Liverpool we lost to Mansfield in an FA Cup replay about 7 years ago.

Evatt ruthless in selection four changes from Saturdays defeat to Bradford. Two changes at centre back
Only Taft surviving from Saturday. Comley out for the more creative Crawford. Jak Hickman for Jones.
Good performance tonight by these four and i can see them keeping the shirts for Saturdays opener

Cue:
a) tinpot trophy glad we're out of it, boycotting it anyway
or
b) winning is a habit and it's good to see we've got players that can come into the side with that winning mentality.

Better than Saturday Especially second half but christ our defending is woeful
Barrow fans warned me that it will take time for Evatt system to gel. Doyle should have scored with two good chances. Crawford and White ran the midfield and Hickman and Delaney will have done there chances of getting a shirt Saturday no harm. Will concede some goals but i will give him ten games to at least see some improvement

Drew 0-0 with Bradford, beat them 4-1 on pens. Created 21 chances.

It’s only our 5th game so I would be far more worried if we didn’t create chances. Not a peep about any interest in Hanlan up here, only link has come from your end.

Sneaked a 2-1 win at Morecambe. Behind most of the game, two late goals to nick it. Starting XI had six teenagers.

Beat Scunny on penalties.

Didn't watch it, but apparently first half we were poor and disjointed, which wouldn't have been too much of a surprise given the selection, but second we were half better when the first choice players started coming on.

Won at Bolton 3-2. Impressive performance and should have been more vs a Bolton team that was closer to full strength than us. Lots of positives especially the next generation of academy talents, Lundstram, Sass-Davies and Johnson performed well. Mandron looks a handful up top also, he wins everything in the air and adds another dimension to our play.

Good performance by Crewe. It could have been 5-5. The players you mentioned looked class Mandron looked a handful because our defenders cannot defend. Think Crewe may even get to the playoffs if not this season certainly next season.
They play the right way

Very hard to say where we are at the minute. Both cup games we have fielded less than half of our ‘guaranteed’ starters. Last night we only played 3 (could argue 2) starters, maybe 4 now Mandron has probably forced his way in. Good signs that a number of our under 23 squad have looked not far off 1st team standard.
As for Bolton, and I’m not trying to be critical here, but I’ve seen talk on twitter and here of last night being an encouraging performance. Just to play devil’s advocate, our team last night was closer to an under 23 team than it was a first team. With everyone available, only Pickering and Wintle are guaranteed, with Beckles and now Mandron probable. I think you should probably take that into consideration.

It is early Days for us and we will improve. I dont think Crewe need to be frightened of anything in lge 1.

I would like to think if we play November onwards we would beat your 11 you selected on both matches thus far.
I accept neither is your best 11.
I would love us to play a flat back 4 from the start but that is not going to happen and we are going to have to trust Evatt and his system.
Greenidge has been missing from all our defeats with a Hamstring injury. He is highly thought of.

Edwards has been out since January and cannot be far from returning to training and by all accounts Zouma is back training with us so its possible we will get better in central defence.
Jak Hickman was our best player last night but Evatt says he is not fit enough to start at rwb

Dale 0 V 2 Sheff Wednesday.

Not unexpected, as with Humphrys cup-tied we had little threat up front. Didn't watch on line, but from Twitter Sheffield dominated, but some good goalkeeping, last ditch defending and the woodwork kept them out for an hour. We did have a few half chances, but failed to take them, and conceded a deserved second as we tired towards the end.

Reading between the lines, a much better performance than at Swindon, but against a stronger team than Swindon.

Next game being on Sunday gives us a useful extra day recovery time - and maybe time to loan in a young forward.

After comfortably beating the Bantams, playing against Liverpool (well their reserves more like) next week will certainly help the clubs finances this covid related season. We do look good going forward, still a few question marks about our ability to defend balls into our box.
