Anyone played this game? I've not been on my 360 for over a year and had bought both this and Bioshock:Infinite a while ago, and never got around to playing it. I see that the game on PS4, made by the same studio, Bloodborne, has been getting rave reviews so I decided to start up my 360 last night and finally give it a go.

I kind of know what to expect, in that it's extremely challenging, but I'm looking forward to it. Only progressed a marginal amount so far.

I played it a bit not too long ago, really enjoyed it, more so than Bloodborne tbh, but I can't be bothered to faff about switching consoles all the time. Hard but very enjoyable/rewarding, and the level design is excellent. I'm really hoping they release is for PS4 same way they did DS2

Did you complete it, Clyde? I gather many get frustrated and give up because it's too difficult.

No, I only played it a bit before moving onto my PS4. Basically I bought it thinking I could play it on my PS4 which of course I can't, so played it on my PS3 for a few weeks until Bloodborne came out. Like i say, if they did the whole HD remaster for PS4 I'd definitely play it again, once you persevere through the initial difficulty spike it's fun. I got as far as the infamous Blighttown

Someone (maybe Cas?) said that these games become immensely playable once you get over the fear of losing your souls, and I'd wholeheartedly agree so far. About 40 hours into Dark Souls II at the moment and I'm having a great time -- probably more so than any other game with similarly enormous depth (bar maybe the Fallout series).

If you persevere with it through the opening few hours and figure out your preferred style (melee, magic, finesse attacks, agility over defence or vice-versa, etc), you shouldn't have too much of a problem. It will still be challenging as fuck, but definitely not so hard that you are completely stuck.

I said it over in 'what game are your currently playing' thread, not sure if that's the instance you meant, but it's completely true.
Whenever I'm about to go into a new area ect I go level up and spend excess souls/echoes just so that I won't fanny about worrying if I lose them.

I'm about seven hours in and can see why the game is so highly regarded. I've died countless times, even against the weaker enemies, but I think I'm getting a good grasp of it now. After running through the forest section for a bit, I ran back and kind of stumbled upon the Gargoyles. I summoned another person for the fight (the option just randomly appeared on the floor outside!) and I originally thought it was for the guy on the 2nd floor casting the spells, but again, I stumbled upon a staircase that I hadn't even realised was there and we worked our way up. The Gargoyles were dispatched of relatively easy so I'm not sure if I got lucky and found a very good player.

After the initial getting used to the game, you can appreciate how easy it is to sink hours into it. It's nice to such a challenging game.

Those summons (called phantoms) lay down those summon signs themselves (they're called soapstones in DSII) and they're nearly always at least competent as they've beaten the boss you're fighting before. Also, bosses tend to focus on phantoms more as they're less cautious.

Also if you met Soltaire after the taurus demon and are playing offline that's who's summon stone appears before the fog wall.
I had no friends so had to call in my bro Soltaire to help
