Surprised if Moyes goes there considering the lack of control over transfers he would have.

A Newcastle link not involving McClaren? This can't be true, all the papers have already said he's gone!

What's the difference between Newcastle and Sociedad? Always too quick to come home those that dabble abroad.

They could appoint Guardiola and they'd still achieve fuck all with Mr Sports Direct running things

I just want this all over, so we know what the situation is. After our ridiculous collapse, it wouldn't bother me if McClaren went as much as it would have in January.

I think it would make a good fit. The problem which hasn't been solved for so many years with Newcastle is how flaky their defence is. Moyes can definitely get them back into shape. He made Goodison Park a fortress, he'd do the same at St. James'.

Big problem though, and I've got a few Newcastle fans as mates who assure me of this. They need to buy players, they need to buy the right players, and they need to spend the right money. It's no good relying on scouting in France for bargains, they need players who are going to fit the mould from day 1. I heard Jonny Evans is a potential signing, I think if they had him and Lascelles at centre back they'd manage a lot better than Williamson and Collo. A couple of new centre midfielders would help the cause massively. Moyes did a lot at Everton with a small budget, I think he could do well at Newcastle.

If you're going to spend money on shit like Vurnon Anita who is honestly one of the least inspiring players to ever grace the Premier League, then you're not going to get anywhere. The whole club needs a revamp.

Can't go into details because I've been sworn not too, but I can put this one to bed right now - not happening.

Same for any links to West Ham too.

No ways is Moyes stupid enough to go and take the Newcastle job. Why would he want to drop down to the Championship?

It would be a career threatening move for any ambitious manager to take over there just now. McLaren or Moyes shouldn't go anywhere near it.

Really? While the funds aren't great, they've got one of the best scouts bringing in decent players, from France anyway.

Lee has mentioned Anita who has been poor, but he was good in the Netherlands. Carr is class at finding what the team needs, look at his past, Tiote, Ba, Cabaye, Remy, Sissoko etc.

Its too political there just now and they will have to manage things with one arm tied behind their back which doesn't help anyone. Thats my take on it anyway, they may see it as an opportunity, who knows.

Is that still the case though? Rivière and Cabella have been awful this season.

I don't think they'd like his football and Moyes would want full control at a club...

I don't particularly think Riviere is or ever was, whereas Cabella is a lot better than he's shown in a Newcastle shirt so far.
Whether he can show that with a new managerial appointment remains to be seen though. But it's certainly worked out for other players in the league where fans have written them off, only for a new manager to actually play them to their strengths and make use of them, Chadli being a good example.

Rivière is a good player, just a bit stupid as shown by his conceding the penalty at your place on Saturday. He was very much hyped in Ligue 1 and I'm surprised his agent didn't find him a better destination than Newcastle. It hasn't worked out for him but it rarely does for foreigners in their first season in the Prem.
Cabella has shown what he can do and should keep improving next season. I hope he starts more games next term (19 starts, 10 subs this season).

I'm not sure what Ashley is doing right now confirming Carver in his position. His message is basically:"we lost 8 games in a row, but that's alright." Moyes ain't and McClaren either. Newcastle is becoming a less rosy destination as time goes by. If they don't go down this season (I don't think they will) then they should be amongst the favourites to do so next season if Carver is still in charge.

Unless Garde comes in. But again I doubt it.

I thought Riviere was shit at Monaco too, it's not exclusive to premier league football. He's a striker who doesn't score goals, not just for Newcastle, but in Ligue 1 his record is bettered by wingers and goal scoring midfielders. He's not even had an impressive single season to point too and say 'look he is capable'. He's a player that people have looked to his potential when coming through France's youth sides but that potential has never materialised at club level.

Thought he was alright last season considering he had to play second fiddle to Falcao for half the season. In retrospect I agree that 10 goals in 30 games isn't the best ratio but he still showed great promise. Maybe he left too soon. Maybe Newcastle pounced on the wrong 'un...

We did. He's shite and in a constant state of fear. Cabella will prove himself eventually, here or elsewhere. You can see he's a talented player who just had his confidence destroyed by Pardew.

If Carver is here next season I sure as hell wont be

David Moyes would be a great appointment for Newcastle, but I can't see Moyes wanting to take that job yet. I reckon he'll at least have another season at Real Sociedad, as he'll have the chance to build his own team this summer and have a crack at getting them back into the top 6. As for Steve McClaren I'm not so sure he'd be the right fit for Newcastle, and he'd arguably be better suited remaining at Derby as long as he manages an assault on the Championship next season.

The politics behind the scenes at St James' Park are going to make it difficult for any manager going in there, and providing they survive in the Premiership this season I think they'll appoint from abroad for someone who is used to working under similar restrictions.

Moyes would be a great appointment for plenty of teams in the Premier League. The job he did at Everton over more than ten years carries more weight than eight months at Manchester United.

Hes a good manager, and would do an excellent job at a Club like Newcastle.

In theory Newcastle would be great for Moyes. However he made it abundantly clear he would only take a job where he has control. He also spent 10 years in a job where he didn't have much money to spend because we had none at the time. I doubt he would want to go to a job where he won't get much to spend because the owner doesn't want to spend it

Don't you refuse to go to games as long as Ashley is the owner?
