That time again, predict your teams results over the busy festive period.

vs Oxford City (H). Win, given the way notts are playing and the sort of players notts have (i.e. not bottlejobs) i don't see any upset, and a convincing 3-0 win.

vs Luton (A). Lose, as other notts fans said this game is a bit of a luxery given how well they've performed recently, don't see them getting turned over but would be surprised if they came away with anything.

vs Grimsby Town (H). Win, notts home form vs an indifferent Grimsby team should really be a home win.

vs Cambridge (H), Draw. Derry always seems to do well at Notts since leaving and I think injuries and a tough fixture list will tell on notts.

vs Morecambe (A), Draw. Our away form has been a bit disappointing in recent weeks, and a long journey to Morecambe, despite their league position will still be tricky.

vs Swindon (A), Loss. Swindon are a good team, and at the end of a long month, only two days after Morecambe will be really testing on notts.

5 points, from 15. Not brilliant, but given they've got a 5 point gap atm on the play offs, wont be the worst thing in the world.

I think we need to be picking up 10 points or more this month, going into a tough January as we've got Luton, County and Mansfield.

After a disappointing end to what started off to be a decent November, we go in to a tough month off the back of our worst performance in a while.

Gillingham (A) FA Cup - LOSE
Newport (A) - LOSE
Port Vale (H) - DRAW
Forest Green (A) - DRAW
Accrington (H) - DRAW
Coventry (H) - LOSE

Out of the FA Cup, then our annual defeat at Newport. Then we’ll go on a little unbeaten run, bur sadly they’ll all be draws.

So 3 points from a possible 15. Another poor month which will cement our place as a bottom half team. Hopefully it will spur the club into action in the January window.

Oxford City H - W - Famous last words, but don't see too many problems here.

Luton Town A - L - We'll give it a go but reckon they'll just have too much for us.

Grimsby Town H - W - We just look too strong for mid-table teams at Meadow Lane, will hopefully continue.

Cambridge United H - W - Derry has tended to have the better of us but for the first time we've actually got a proper manager ourselves and they appear to be shite.

Morecambe A - W - We've not won away for a couple of months (keep drawing 1-1) but fancy us here.

Swindon Town A - L - Thought they looked a very useful side at ML, be delighted with a point but expecting to lose.

9 points from 5 league games and a place in the third round of the cup would be fine by me.

Blackburn (A, FA Cup) - Lose. We'll put up a good fight, but I expect Blackburn, who are on a roll form wise, to have too much for us.

Cheltenham (A) - Draw. Got a run of league games where we need to be picking up lots of points. Cheltenham seem decent at home, but we have got to be getting something from this one.

Crawley (H) - Win. Been solid on the road, but a home game with them is not one we shouldn't be looking to win. Got to get 3 points from this one.

Swindon (H) - Draw. Not sure why, because Swindon are good on the road this season. But hopefully we can get a point out of this one.

Chesterfield (A) - Draw. Another game against a team near us, we've not bad the best of times at their new ground, an epic collapse in a 5-5 draw and a dismal 2-0 defeat in our relegation season. Plus its Boxing Day. But, with it being a team around us in the relegation fight, we need to be picking something up from this one.

Cambridge (A) - Lose. Shaun Derry has a voodoo curse over us, just manages to win every time. Expect this one to be no different, comfy home win.

I doubt we get 6 points, but we really need to get that many minimum otherwise we'll probably be in the bottom 2.

Crewe (H) Win - Tend to do well at home and should be looking to beat the teams around/below us
Coventry (A) Lose - We always lose these sorts of games
Barnet (A) Draw - Would like to predict a win but we're so shite away from home I can't do it
Yeovil (H) Win - Should've beaten them away in September, hopefully will manage it this time
Newport (H) Draw - Not sure what to make of Newport, they were awful in the away game despite beating us 1-0 (we were even more awful), but they've had some good results.

8/15 points would reflect what looks like being a very average season.

After 4 wins and a draw in November, we'll come unstuck somewhere in December, just can't work out where, we're solid if not spectacular

Guiseley H FA CUP - WIN
Blackpool A - Checkatrade - Don't care
Crawley A - Win
Yeovil H - Win
Morecambe H - Win
Grimsby A - Draw
Wycombe A - Draw

Keeping Stead, Shola, Grant and Yates fit during December is paramount to how we do. Theoretically it could be the 2 latter names last month with us although signs suggest they will both remain at Notts until the EOS.

Oxford city Win 2-0
- unspectacular win against a side that will match us for the battle.

Luton away Draw 1-1 actually think we could set up to stifle them and hit on the counter I expect us to lead and then hold on once Luton get the equaliser.

Grimsby Home Win 2-0 - seems Grimsby don’t know whether they are coming or going at the moment but I do expect their form to be a lot better in the new year, hopefully a good time to play them.

Cambridge Home win 1-0 - a tough one but I think we might scrape it late on

Morecambe Away Draw 1-1 not best of places to travel over the Xmas period so a point would be a good trip

Swindon Away Lose 2-0 they are improving if irratically but I think a defeat to finish off a ok month

Vale v Yeovil 1-0
We need to reach the 3rd round and hope for a financially good draw
Vale v Shrewsbury
who really cares about a game between our reserves and theirs? It would be okay to not have this competition to worry about.
Vale 1 Cambridge 0
I'm half expecting Uche to mark his return with a goal, but this is winnable for us.
Carlisle 2 Vale 1
A narrow defeat
Colchester 0 Vale 1
Our away form isn't actually that bad, so going for a narrow win here
Vale 1 Coventry 0
Coventry blow hot and cold, and now have injuries to contend with. I think we can win this one.
Vale 1 Luton 3
I don't expect anything from this game as long as we don't crumble.

Gatehead Fa cup (W) - a Sunday away game and a long trip oop north. Athletics stadium, no atmosphere, a soggy pitch. If the games on then a win for a much changed side. I'd take a replay to give our squad more game time and secure a 3rd round place.
Notts County (h) W - I expect a similar game to Swindon and Coventry but this time I'm hoping we've learnt from those defeats and don't make the same mistakes. Need to get that first goal and make them open up. A narrow win in front of a packed KR.
Forest Green (a) W - An indifferent start from the league newcomers. I think Forest Green may suit our style. Providing the weather isn't a leveller then I would expect us to win comfortably.
Grimsby (h) W - Not a great season for Grimsby. I see a double decker parked in front of their keeper but we'll find our way around it and win without too many problems.
Swindon (a) D - I'm hoping that NJ and the team will want to prove a point after the last meeting. The fact its boxing day and a big crowd will mean its a difficult game to call. Our boxing day performances tend to be poor. I still think we'll get a well earned draw from this game.
Port Vale (a) W - I thought Port Vale had turned the corner a couple of weeks back but recent performces would suggest otherwise. A team lacking in confidence vs a team full of confidence. Could get messy.
If my somewhat optimistic prediction comes off then it will mean 13 points from 15. Would be satisfied with 10 points though to keep us in the auto spots as we enter the second half of the season.

Got all four November league games spot on, so let's see if I can do the same with this months' lot. What I do know is we need to take at least 8 points this month, if we're serious about keeping in touch with the top 7, as there are some tough matches coming up in January.

Newport (FA CUP) A - Newport are a decent side this year, so I'll be happy with a draw and a replay, but I reckon they'll beat us. LOSS
Port Vale A
- The hardest game to predict afaic as I think this one could go either way. We've now gone 5 away matches without scoring and to be perfectly frank, if we can't get an away goal here then we might as well give up now. I reckon we'll get one, but will it be enough to get us all 3 points? DRAW
Newport H
- Hmm, Newport again. A hard fought 1-0 or 2-1 win this time. WIN
Notts Co A
- This one's easy. They'll beat us but it will be a close one (I hope ;) ) LOSS
Barnet H
- I know Urban's lot have got Mark McGhee, and I also know they're on a poor run so it's easy to say we'll win this one. Problem is they're Barnet, and we always struggle when we come up against them, in fact we've played them 3 times since 2014 and we only beat 'em once, albeit a very undeserving 2-1 win back in December of 2015. DRAW
Crewe H
- Anything less than a win will simply not be good enough here. I think we'll get it. WIN

13 points out of 15, certainly not to be sniffed at and it was important to have a good one given that our first 3 league games of 2018 are Luton (a), County (h) and Mansfield (a)!

Predicted 3 out of 15, but we managed to get 7. So better than expected but still not really good enough if we’re wanting to push into the top half of the table

January is crucial for us. This current squad is clearly only capable of hovering around the bottom-middle of the table and no more.
If we want to have any chance of progressing up the table and possibly getting top 7, we must strengthen in January. If we do what we did last season and weaken in January, then we’ll end up in a relegation battle. Although I can’t see us weakening that much as no one would want any of our current lot.

Predicted 6 points and an FA Cup exit and we got 6 points and an FA Cup exit. I would have preferred 1 win and 3 draws for those 6 points, so we weren't losing as much. But I'll take 6 points given how shit we are.

Well progressed to the 3rd round of the cup with little fuss, and were rewarded with Cardiff away (sigh)

As the league form went, we obtained 8 from 15 which is acceptable, given the level of opposition. Very Mansfield that we'd lose to Crawley away but then come from behind to beat Wycombe away.
