Good appointment for Derby given that Reading have just entered the new manager stakes and Leeds are chasing anyone with a pulse. Not to mention Rotherham, Notts Forest and Blackburn also are without managers. Let the fireworks commence.

It's a cracking appointment, but if Leicester had Derby's board they'd have fired him long before he built most of that title-winning side...

On my way home from work but understand Powell has also joined?

Good pairing at Leicester. We say this every season it seems but surely this has to be the season for Derby.

Fair play to Derby, they've acted quick and got themselves a strong pairing at this level.

Going to be a tough division next season but Derby will be there or thereabouts for promotion with Pearson and Powell leading them

He was actually quite chilled out most of the time. I doubt he'll go on such a long frustrating run of results again to reach boiling point. Even then calling someone an ostrich ain't that bad is it? Though anybody that you try to sign in the summer that joins a different championship club better stay the fuck away from his dugout.

The mighty Rams!!!
He fell out with the whole media. I remember reading that ranieri coming in made the whole atmosphere more welcoming. The backs against the wall attitude does well to a point. It wasn't just the media, the situation with the player who he held on the floor was just bizarre.

Why did they wait until now? Could have got him in immediately after Clement and been in the Prem already.

Have Pearson and Powell worked together before?

Yes.
Pearson signed Powell as a player late in his career. Powell was also a coach at Leicester for a while.

Fantastic appointment, Derby have to give him the time though and not sack him if they are sat in the play off positions in February. He'll build a good squad but of course it'll cost Derby, I hope we go up this season because next year is going to be so tough.

There seems to be this misconception from opposition supporters that we sacked Clement in February when we were top six because we weren't running away with the league.

Whilst we weren't playing the attractive free flowing football of McClaren under Clement all the indications are that he was sacked due to some serious off the field misdemeanours.

In that case that's a great appointment. Surely Derby can't bottle it now.

I can't see him not having them challenging the top two next season, as solid an appointment as you can make in the Championship, really. Especially with the nous of Powell backing him up - always feel more confident with an assistant who's been there and done it themselves (to an extent) at this level, a la Calderwood and ourselves.

How did you rate Clement? Reckon he'll get another crack at management?

Got to be happy with that, nice to see the role is back to manager too, hopefully that means he'll have greater input to the recruitment side of things unlike PC. Always happy to see Powell back at the club.

As for PC, he'll get another crack in management for sure, he just wasn't a good fit for the club or the playing staff.

What kind of misdemeanours?

He told some unhappy fans to 'fuck off and die', gave some verbal to some media fellas and had a family member travelling with the side make a sex tape in which he racially abused someone. So they fucked him off and brought in Pearson.

And to think I didn't hear of any of this...

Good appointment, seemed the obvious choice. And Bristol City fan(s) thought they had a chance of getting him...

What does that have to do with it? We'll never know whether he'd have taken it or not because he wasn't considered - his name comes up for every managerial vacancy that's available in this league.

So lomg as we're winning i'll enjoy it :)
Why the pop at City then? Us fans would have liked to think we would get him when Cotts left but little Lee was given the gig. I don't get the point of your post TBH, why mention us in it?

It was a piss-take #bantz at JJ who was very vocal in wanting to hold out till the summer to get Pearson. Didn't think you had a chance then and with Derby in for him certainly dont think you would have.
