It's easy to say and think this but there's things which have gone off between manager and players and manager and owner which have not been revealed ... All this talk about playing style and not playing " the Derby way" is BS .. Just a smokescreen.

Football is all about winning, and Morris knows this. Doesn't matter how ugly the win is, 3 points are 3 points.Top of the table is top of the table. You don't get remembered for "playing style" finishing 16th lol

Now I'm seeing Clement was sacked for "short termism" lol ... this has to be more BS coming out of Pride Park/Ipro. The idea is to get out of this division as quick as possible and all resources are put towards that end,, it's the same for every club, it's called competition and it's called desire to succeed and desire to reach the promised land.

Obviously it's clear something was very wrong at PP and the wheels were coming off our promotion push, but the performance at Fulham was a big improvement over recent weeks and I did feel PC was getting a reaction from his players, so yeah this has been a shock...I thought he'd get a few more games to turn it around and prove himself.

Derby say its all about the style and progression of players rather than instant results so presume the next manager will expect time to build a team and style of play rather than being judged on results?

What if that new man comes in and they lose even more ground on the top 2 and slip out of play-off contention...

I think the key thing is embracing the direction the club want to go. The major point from all this is depsite the meetings is that MM and PC were not on the same page, that to me makes the managers position untenable and it seems it was.

Luke all this "embracing" speak is a subterfuge .. .. The club want promotion THIS season. There's no long term "derby way" ect .. lol That's BS ..

It's either an impulsive "panic" sacking .. caving into the boo boys and sure the recent dire results/performances

Or some mega clash of personalities/egos has occurred..

This Style over substance talk is ridiculous.

Whatever ... it will come come out in PC's bio when he's achieved success with another club :cool1:

Never a dull moment at DCFC :mell:

As alluded to above, what if we lose our next few games ?

How will this all look then ? It's a results orientated business so I'm almost finding it insulting looking at MM's reasons for the sacking.

I am concerned now that Wassall seems to be definitely in charge for the rest of the season, bad move for me. Promoting people from the academy to first team and the like. I hope I'm wrong, but cannot see us finishing in the play-offs.

Either way, season ticket renewed and on to next season we go.

Morris stated at the beginning of the season, that promotion was not an absolute priority, but building on what the team had done in the previous 2 seasons was.
In my opinion, I think their is quite a degree of honesty in hos words, I just don't think he's managed to explain them in the most understandable way.

Let's just build then ...

"Building" what exactly ?

I'd love to see/hear Cloughie's opinions on all this :hesk:

A team capable of playing decent football, achieving promotion and having the best possibility of staying there.

We've actually achieved that but gave everyone else six games start

Sky sources have told us that Derby County have dismissed approaches from more than 30 managers or their representatives, who are interested in being considered for the head coach's job at the iPro Stadium.

But we understand Derby's chairman, Mel Morris is determined to allow Darren Wassall the opportunity to prove himself in the role for the remainder of the season at least. He is favourite for the job long term.

Wassall has a very close working and social relationship with Morris.

Sources have told us that former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson's representatives made an initial inquiry about the job, but it's been made clear that Derby are not entertaining applications from anyone at present.

Only reason I can think of for the above is that we are still within FFP, but appointing someone now would take us over.

Right you've done it now Walkley. Derby, you're safe for this season, I've decided its Wendesday's place in the top 6 we are taking instead.

I've a soft spot for Wednesday, I hope to see them back in premier League before long. Hillsborough is a great ground and everything about them is better than Derby

I've defended this clubs decisions time and time again over the years, in good and in bad. But right now, we are an absolute cluster fuck of a mess, not just the sacking of Clement, but the whole situation. The players are not responding, I don't know if they just can't be arsed, their is something wrong behind the scenes, or they are just so de-void of confidence its unreal. Now rumours circulating that we cannot appoint a new manager until the end of the season because it will push us over FFP! Over to you Morris, I sincerely hope you know what your doing.

I think that's fairly obvious, Layer Cake. There is no other logical explanation for putting the U21 coach in charge for the remainder of the season.

Rumours also going around that Clement doesn't get any compensation, which if true means there is certainly something we've not been told.
