Hi, apologies if this is a stupid question (mainly aimed at Wealdstone & Concord fans) but I was interested in people's opinions as to whether there was a big step up in quality in the Conference / National League South, compared to the Ryman Premier?

Really looking forward to the new season ahead!

Blackz.... it's the same in any league when you make a step up.... the key is to adapt to the level. Tonbridge's brief spell in Connie South resulted in a decent finish (9th) in the first season. However, Warrillow didn't (or could'nt) improve his squad and the inevitable happened the following season.

It's a slightly less shambles of a league internally. Althoguh, Turvey has gone now so maybe the Isthmian will be better run...

Teams in the CS are far better organised than in the ILP. Fewer mistakes are made, but when they are they're more quickly punished.

The last club to be promoted to the CS from the ILP and make a major impact in their first season were ourselves in 11/12. Other sides who've come up tend to need major changes to survive

Well we struggled immensely in the first few months, couldn't buy a win, confidence at a real low etc. We lost our 3 best players over the summer last year which really didn't help and it wasn't until the middle of November that we fully adjusted to the league.

What I noticed almost immediately is that teams are far better organised, the tempo is quicker and teams are far more ruthless with the chances they have. I don't expect Margate or Maidstone to have this trouble, both sides have recruited well and the former have an experienced head in Terry Brown.
