At Wrexham we have recently completed the construction of viewing platform for wheelchair users. Before this was built wheelchair users had to sit at the bottom of the stand getting rained on. This has recently been talked about in the house of lords. Wrexham DSA (Disabled Supporters Association) are trying to fund for another 2 viewing platforms, of which 1 would be for away fans. This campaign to help wheelchair users enjoy football is being supported by Tanni Gray-Thompson. If anybody is a wheelchair user, knows any wheelchair users or is just feeling generous any donation would be much appreciated. Thank You

Here is the page for any pledges.

We were mentioned in the Lords too for our work on our disabled access/facilities. There is currently a world record attempt in the works for the longest football match in history, to be played in New Brighton at the end of July. They are aiming to play for 75 hours non-stop and all proceeds of the day are going toward the Lee Knight foundation, who was the Chairman of our disabled trust before he sadly passed away far too young. The foundation will be using the proceeds to fund disabled facilities and initiatives at Prenton Park and the community.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, as yours too is a very worthy cause, but I just wanted to highlight the work going on here too. It's quite surreal that, for all our rivalries (Us, Wrexham, Chester), we're more similar than we'd care to admit. I have nothing but respect for the fans of both those clubs for the way they have taken ownership of their clubs after tough times and I wish you all the best in your fundraising efforts.

Having a disabled friend I think its great to see clubs (even rivals) are making efforts too aid disabled supporters! Well done to Chester and Tranmere, lets hope more clubs follow suit. Maybe if all clubs write to the FA they give us all a bit of money towards it (Yes I know highly unlikely)

I agree completely with the importance of better access and cover for wheelchair users at grounds, and would be the first to support any such move. I would, however, I'd like to draw your attention to another much needed upgrade to grounds. I would dearly like to go and see my local team, but can't, due to the lack of audio description for visually impaired supporters. It's slowly on the increase, especially at Premier League and Football League level, but it is also needed at in non league, especially where local radio commentary is not available. I don't even have the choice of sitting in the rain!

That's a great point. Anything to make football more accessible to everyone should be pursued

Like the username, great books!
