We played our first friendly of the new season. I am captain, so i let the team play in a 4-3-3, i put myself on the bench we played a gqme against another 6th tier (Dutch) club, SV Geinoord. We started alright with a 1-0 and 2-0 in 14 minutes. They came back in the 43th minute with a 2-1 and in the 45+1 minute with the 2-2. We scored the 3-2 in the 71st minute, they made 3-3 in the 77th minute, i subbed myself on as a center-mid, i scored in the 83th minute, parked the bus and won. Some 17 year old striker from us scored a goal on his "debut". I also is worth noting that our goalie is the 2nd choice, but we mostly played the B-team.

From 6 to 16 I was on schoolboy terms for a professional club. Got released, barely kicked a ball since. Used to do a bit of Sunday league when I got dragged down day after a night out. Had any enjoyment of playing zapped out of me to be honest. Had to get an apprenticeship and to be honest I got lucky. It’s the lads that get released at 21/22 upwards that struggle more to get a job. There is always trying to play for another club either pro or semi pro but honestly after all the shit I saw at the club it put me off playing. When I got released (I knew I’d be getting released) the guy that released me was on the phone at the time moved in to one side and said “yeah your getting released” and put the phone back to his head and carried on talking. I’d been there around 10 years and that’s the way you get treated

I was on the books early doors at Man United, they said I was the best talent the coaches had seen within the youth system since Luke Chadwick. Then I had a bad accident on a school skiing trip and had to get my left leg amputated. Never quite picked up after that.

I know when i was still at U17/U19 level scouts from Vitesse, De Graafschap and FC Utrecht came, Graafschap was kinda in to my "tactical intelligence and determination", but they chose some one else. FC Utrecht and Vitesse dindt mention me.

I was working in a brewery when I lived in Yorkshire, Sheffield to be precise, everyone knew me as 'Jimmy' played for a local park side, centre forward, scored for fun, easy stuff, anyway, long story short, Pete Postlethwaite was doing a bit of scouting for one of the local semi pro sides, got invited down to Hallam FC see how I did with them, bagged on my debut, also headbutted the captain in the same game (jealous prick) played there a bit, ended up on trial at a big local professional side, nearly blew my chances after having an almighty piss up the night before for a mate's birthday, whiskey chasers, strippers the lot, heavy night, (I had a previous drink problem, ironic that I worked in a brewery huh!), performed terribly at the trial, they weren't going to sign me, long story short I done a bit of a Rocky montage around Sheffield though and went back and they signed me up on a free transfer.

After a few times sitting on the bench and due to an injury crisis at the club I was came one as a sub in a cup semi final against Man United, got booked with me first touch of the ball, got elbowed in the face in the box and despite everything seemingly happening in slow motion, I stepped up manfully to dispatch the winning penalty that sent us to Wembley, don't remember much that happened after, other than me stood mouth open and hands aloft in front of the crowd, happy days.

I played in the park today against some U10’s, I was a rush goalie, some of the parents got upset with my outside the box tackles, but do I care? NO!

I single handedly won 8-0.

Yesterday we palayed the second game of the season (friendly) against local "rivals" DOVO Veenendaal. I pjt my self on the bench, played some youth. 1-0 down in the 4th minute. then in the 44th minute it became 1-1. I subbed myself (and some other lads) on. 2-1 for them in the 58th minute. 3-1 in the 84th minute. and that was the score. Also a yellow card for me cause of "diving". I played center-mid (like always, the captain position). Hope i dont lose the dressing room. (we dont have a manager, so the captain is the "player-manager"

You know this is easily verifiable? And according to SV Geinoord's Twitter they beat some team 5-3 on Saturday. Why are you making up these lies?

When i lived in Birmingham i played for a hospital team. We had a lot of excitable characters, lets call it that. We played a team from Wolverhampton, an older team, who knew what they were doing in a friendly.

They began to open us up, and their winger cut in on our keeper, clean through. Our winger was chasing him, brought him down in the area, while our keeper, fresh out from prison on an attempted murder charge after nine years, came charging out.

As the player was falling forward, our keeper hit him with both feet, studs showing in the chest. It took ten minutes to get up, but he did, and proceeded to try and cripple anyone with the ball.

Which happened to be me twice, i ignored him first time, then he tried a round house kick, hip level, so i hit him, he went down and the game was abandoned.

Another incident with the keeper was when he tried to pick up a fifty fifty ball from the feet of a forward, and got clipped, nothing bad, he then chased the player the length of the pitch bellowing.

He quit soon after, with another excitable character. This was the early 80s or mid eighties, who can remember, in the Redditch and south Warwickshire league, a surprisingly good one. I had played in the top division of the county league, saturdays, in Sheffield.

Being from Anglia, there is a cultural difference between north and south. It is harder up north. The midlands is as hard as the north, the difference is that midlanders stay quiet, till they get you back.

Down south there is a lot of cussing and blathering, but not much else.

Like most, i only ever played up to top of youth level (poorly, i would add)

Tried a pre-season friendly in the adult league, realised it wasnt for me and went to work in Kwik-Save to earn pocket money instead

Halcyon days

I played a few games for Eastleigh in the Conference South whilst at Uni in the early 2010's.

I drifted around a few clubs throughout non-league and subsequently 'retired'.
