For the Albion its the biggest game in our history. For Donny I guess its just professional pride. The players could make the impossible possible. What an achievement it would be for our club to make it to the championship. At the helm with have Nigel Clough who started it all off 18 years ago. From our point of view it could be a real football fairy tale.
The fans have responded well and have real belief we can do this. Over 2,400 tickets sold as of today and 22 coaches booked so far which includes 6 independents. Those numbers will seem small fry to some of the bigger clubs in this league but for us it is going to be a record away following for a league game.
Can we do it ? Yes we can.
Rovers played really well at our place mind so I am expecting a very tough match.

At the start of the season, I reckon most would have had this down as a promotion v relegation scrap. I bet they all had it the other way around.

I really don't like the fact that we're overwhelming favourites to go up. We've always thrived on the underdog role. We were always underdogs to go up right up until it was confirmed last season and we weren't even expected to win the title on the last day of last season since we had the "tougher" game. Eight out of the eleven that started at Cambridge that day will likely start on Sunday, by the way. All bar one signed for nothing and deemed just about good enough for a league two team with half an eye on the play offs. Just shows you how big of an achievement this would be should we do it.

I think it will all come down to how much Donny want to sign off with a win on Sunday since I fully expect Walsall to do what's required at Vale. Donny beat Wigan fairly comfortably by all accounts a few weeks ago but then lost to Crewe last week so fuck knows how our game will go. I dunno. Toss a coin.

Why would you "expect" Walsall to win at a ground where the Vale have only lost 3 times in 22? Fancy us to get at least a draw personally.

You may have a good home record, but those 3 league defeats were all against teams in the top 6 i.e. the teams sat around Walsall. In fact, as far as I can see you've only beaten one (admittedly Wigan) of the top 9 at home this season.

Walsall also happen to have the best away record in the entire division, against a team with nothing to play for. I expect Walsall to win as well.

We'd lost every game at your place before this season. The aggregate score was frightening (four games, 16-3) and absolutely everything pointed to a Vale win. We rocked up and won 4-0.

Obviously I hope you get a draw because that renders whatever happens at our game completely irrelevant but I really can't see it. The reasons 1976bantam has mentioned plus it's the last day of the season and I think we've all seen enough "last days" to know how football has that one last twist in it's locker...

Not saying we will win but I don't think we will lose. Burton was the one bad home blot.

Isn't there a little bit of history between the two of you as well? I had a scan of your forum and read a few bits and pieces here and there. I've seen Alan Buckley get mentioned a few times. My football history only goes back to when he was Grimsby manager but I gather he was a bit of a pain in the arse for Vale when he played for Walsall?

There is for the older generation, at one time we hated Walsall nearly as much as Stoke (talking years ago!) the past couple of decades we haven't had any rivalry with them but the older fans certainly won't want them celebrating on our pitch. We've generally played very well since the play off pressure went, hammered Crewe, cruised past Gills and hammered Rochdale before the pressure came back when we had a sniff and we did our usual bottle job at Scunny.

Pressure is zero on us, all on Walsall and on our day this season we have been superb so if we play like we can then I think we will be capable of beating them. I'd doubt we'd want anyone partying on our pitch so expect us to give it all to avoid that. The fact they have to come and win might suit us hitting them on the counter too with our new found 3-5-2 and Hoopers form.

We shall do what we can, but I'd expect you to beat Doncaster who are dead and buried now.

Over 3300 tickets sold was the last figure I heard, that must be something like 90% of our normal home attendance !
Certainly a club record away following for a league match. Should be pretty rowdy in the North stand tomorrow.

Massive Congrats to Burton. An achievement on a par with Leicesters in my opinion. Welcoming Forest,Derby, Villa to Staffordshire was surely beyond your wildest dreams!

Well, maybe!

Very much the Midlands league there next season, with possibly Walsall still to come.

Quite possibly the worst 90 minutes of football I've ever watched but a fantastic achievement, see you next season chaps.

Never, ever felt nerves like that before. Fucking dreadful game of football and possibly the worst we've played in a while but I'm absolutely elated. I probably watched more of the scoreboard than I did the game...was probably more entertaining actually.

Commiserations Walsall. Let's have you up in the play offs.

Oh yes, Hooped Wizard's four immortal words used in my direction at the beginning of the season. At least he has broadened his vocab since then and strung a sentence together :bg:.

Go support your team you lightweight. Enjoy League 2 and with a bit of luck you might fuck it up again and get another taste of non league football.

Well done Burton :10:

Wtf I go to every game.

I have no idea who you are. Don't tell lies.

We will be back of course, your team are an irrelevance and will be going back down to their rightful place.

How has Andy Williams been this season Donny fans? Originally we were a bit hacked off he left but it seems like we did well in getting him off the payroll.

Just hideous, I have nothing positive to say about that lifeless c***.

Considering the wages he's on he could well be our worse signing ever.
