Fuck, we’ve got Burton on the final day, hope they remember they’re supposed to be on the beach by then.

Don’t go in for those tackles lads, you don’t want to try busting a move on those Mediterranean dancefloors with an orthopaedic boot on. Best to save yerself, eh.

We have a mid table mediocrity title to go for - 12th is still up for grabs don’t you know.
So the factor 15 can stay in the draw a little longer please lads…

That mad time of the season were form goes out the window and panic stations. Top 3 all started playing like Dog and Duck FC last week or so, Sheff Wed only managed 1 goal at home to Crewe, they remain the only team yet to wobble over the last few weeks near the top, their turn to lose Saturday now?

Avoid defeat to Wycombe on Saturday and just a point needed to confirm the play offs from our final two games I think

NS it could and should have been a hat full but three points is all that counts.

Enjoyed that. First 70 minutes it looked like we were playing against a side in the bottom 4, we played some lovely stuff without an end product as has become the norm. However it definitely shows having a decent striker gets you promoted. Keane was utterly useless for us now he’s banging them in left right and centre! Shame we didn’t see it out but some promising signs for next year. Not sure on the financial situation at Wigan but they’ll need to seriously strengthen in the summer based on that

We should have won that. Even their first was against the run of play. So frustrating!

Look what happens when you realise the essence of football is to try and score a goal and win a game.
One of our best performances of the season tonight. Put some pride back in the shirt. Happy to eat humble pie after spouting off that I warned JfH to go. Still not convinced, but 4 clean sheets and 4 points off Wigan and Rotherham is very good.
Hopefully we can finish on a high. Just booked my ticket for donny, was not going but that has encouraged me.

Rovrum have been in terrible form for ages, if they finish in the playoffs I don’t even fancy them to make the final. They looked like romping away with the title a month or so ago and I think they’re bottom or thereabouts of the form table now.

We play them on the final day.

Missed 2 or 3 sitters tonight but a wins a win!

Looking now at the table and at the points we’ve dropped late on in games is sickening. 15 dropped in the last 10 minutes this season apparently. Bolton and Ipswich spring to mind as the worst 2.

That was the biggest game of two halves you’ll ever see.

KR got it badly wrong first half. MK looked different class at 45 minutes; to be honest I was sat there thinking ‘we are so far away from promotion based on this’. Given the second half performance a lot of that first half was perhaps in hindsight down to our inability to press, pick up the second man and play with the right intensity.

MK are absolutely brilliant when on top of games. They are so well drilled at creating triangles, introducing a third man and ‘cheating’ (in the sense of players covering multiple positions). They would have put us to the sword had we not adapted second half.

Given our changes at half time, we ran them ragged. I was rather surprised they offered so little second half. Much like they made us look first half, they looked very ordinary second half and struggled to venture much outside of their half.

Overall a highly entertaining game of football. The goal was always going to come from MK overplaying and we were clinical at the right time.

We definitely got lucky today, a mixture of nerves and playing so many matches over the past 3 months with more or less the same 11, is taking its toll now, to be fair, us scabbing a draw tonight, probably makes up for you doing the same to us at the DW in December, a win a piece would have been much preferred though!

Think if we had of played you 2 weeks ago, our performance would have been miles better as we were dominating games at that point. Just a case of grinding out points now to get over the line, then give the squad a much needed rest. Would certainly make 5+ changes next match though, too many players running on empty.

Had a quick count so maybe wrong, we’ve lost 26 points from winning positions over the season. (Not necessarily in the last 10 minutes)
But then we’ve gained 11 from losing positions which softens the blow I guess!

15 points lost still isn’t great! And when you look, a net loss of around that figure is in the first 6-8 games. That’s what cost us this season and we’ve known it from when McKenna took over.

Interestingly we have lost 17 from winning positions but won 17 from losing, we do seem bad at failing to kill games off when 1 goal up, which is frustrating but much of that came from 4-2-3-1 games in fairness, we have scored loads more with 3 at the back with wing backs.

I am sure most teams could say that. Coulda woulda shoulda.
It is fine margins that are teams go up or go down. Amazing how it pans out really that it can be just one goal.
I am a great believer that the table does not lie after 46 games.

Bobbin' what’s this about your fans throwing sandwiches around in the stand… I’ve heard of pints being thrown but this is something new…

They wouldn’t throw pints around, weak lemon squash or cold tea, maybe

Some pissed up numpty. I saw him throw something but turns out he threw a few things, a pie, a sandwich, no idea why he was carrying round all that grub with him.

I didn’t go last night but I’ve seen the two goals Charlton scored and they’re brilliant haha. From what I’ve seen/read/listened to, it sounds like Charlton deserved the win so no complaints from me.

To win games (and even compete) against the top sides we have to play with such an intensity that we have to rotate the team. Unfortunately it does leave us exposed in games like last night’s. On another day we might have got something from that but we were always likely to be second best.

Can’t argue with that. We should have taken one of those first half chances, and even in the second half had a couple where a bit of composure would have done the trick. We didn’t really have the options off the bench to change things massively with so many out injured (add Wickham to the list of Eisa, Watson, Baldwin) and it was no surprise that you nicked it the way you did. Same as at our place.

Yeah, fairly even first half and the two goals did take fortunate deflections but we were completely dominant in the second half and the win was more than deserved, really should have had a couple more.
