As we approach the business end of the season it’s a busy weekend with some massive fixtures. Wrexham have two big games in their attempt to solidify a promotion shot.

The biggest game of the weekend is obviously the Wealdstone v Barnet grudge match. Old Firm and El Classico levels of hatred wouldn’t even come close.

Woefully short of confidence Notts v bang in form Wrexham? It’s a no from me.

In all seriousness, I would snap your hand off for a draw right now. Wouldn’t at all be surprised to see young Lewis Knight chucked in for his debut up top, and the new signing from Crewe. After all - why not?

Just waiting for your new manager bounce to come tomorrow against us! I too, would take a draw if offered one now...

Tuesday was so frustrating because the game had been even until Harry's unfortunate error and as soon as that happened, heads dropped. Bromley have lost their last two but they'll still be expecting to beat us.

As for Easter Monday - probably another dull 0-0 like the reverse fixture.

I wouldn’t expect one, it took Chessie furloughing half their existing squad and signing a new one to get theirs, we are stuck with this lot until the summer at least. Any new manager bounce is more likely to come next season when I imagine they’ll be big changes in the playing personnel.

You only really need to worry about the unknown factor of us possibly chucking Lewis Knight in up front, who came with a very good rep from Bradford PA and is supposedly very fast. He’s spent the last few weeks getting fit. Cal Roberts might be fit enough for a place on the bench, but I’m not expecting him to hit last season’s highs for some time, if ever. We have a supposedly creative midfielder on loan from Crewe as well, Regan Griffiths, but no-one knows if he’s any good. And having Alex Lacey back at CB would help, but dunno if he’s fit. I’d expect Connell Rawlinson to come back in tomorrow as well, likely for Ben Turner.

However, if it is pretty much the same team as Tuesday, with no Knight, Roberts, Griffiths or Lacey, you don’t have too much to fear.

I would like to see Knowles from the start on the right of that front three. He’s raw but has pace, energy and doesn’t mind shooting, all things that we don’t really have otherwise.

Although I still think a lot of the criticism our forward line gets is broadly unfair. We spend far too much time, and have all season, playing slow, aimless passes between the goalkeeper, back four and two defensive midfielders. As soon as they try and go forward, they tend to give it away. We’ve missed a player who is comfortable making space for a pass from the defensive players and then looking to turn and move it forward, rather than just playing it straight back to them without even looking (hello, Jake Reeves).

Read between the lines of Burchnall’s interviews and he’s saying all this stuff, but whether we’ve got the players to change it I don’t know. The pragmatic option would probably to suck it up, focus on the strong defence and go more direct for the rest of the season to make sure we get in the play-offs, but can’t really see that happening.

Well hopefully Griffiths will do that. We’ve really barely seen any balls from midfield splitting the opposition defence and our strikers getting in behind this season. The kind of thing Aldershot did to us on Tuesday, and has happened plenty of times elsewhere. As you say, Knowles could potent perform that role if he gets the ammunition from midfield, he has the pace and energy, and hopefully Knight too.

Dagenham looked decent in spells the other week when we played at theirs, still our home form is the best in the league and shouldn't fear any team coming here, really hope Rhys Oates is back for this, may not be the best attacking threat in the league but his pace causes all kinds of problems.

Despite our really decent form in March I don’t think we will get anything at Pools, lots already out and some more now facing fitness tests. Score 2 or more and you will win without a doubt. We will create chances but fail to finish them, every week when we play we create quite a few chances but always come up short despite our very decent (on paper) strike force.

Season will dwindle out for us so if you have us coming up it should be an easy three points, if you have something to play for.

We’ve played a lot of the tinpot shite of the league on our famous “good run of form”. We’ve got 2 Proper Clubs to play over the weekend and I’d be amazed if we come away unbeaten from them.

We are losing tomorrow for a start, we’re away to a Proper Club and on TV. Not to mention having tricked a few into believing Dean Keates won’t revert to type in these sort of games. We will stink the place out and hope for a 0-0.

Happy Easter.

Also how are Hartlepool playing twice again? They’ve already played a million games more than anyone else. They’ll finish their season by end of next week at this rate.

Proper club doing everything by the book innit, we've had no postponements at home and zero Covid cases this season, just a football team playing footy.

After this weekend we've only got Saturday games until we hit he playoffs :cool1:

Can't really believe that i'm saying this but our game against Alty has been postponed as it's just been announced that our club captain Lee Collins passed away suddenly yesterday at the age of 32.

Only 1 game for us this weekend.
Should be winnable but we'll probably find some way not to win

We'll be jetting off to the Caribbean Peterlee in April and May while the rest of you fuckers take turns to shithouse/ref each other out 3 times a week for 3 weeks.

Not only quick but he's pretty strong and can be useful in the air. We don't look good enough in the final third without Rhys Oates.

Who would've put money on any of us saying that when he signed in pre season?

Hard to see us winning either game. Never mind.

I don't know anything about Aldershot, can see it being a draw though as we pass it around trying "to play out from the back" without actually going anywhere for the majority of it.

They haven't got a bounce in them, confidence is shot and now the defence is leaking we've no ability to score enough to win games.

We should beat Joking as they are worse than us at the moment . Hopefully our Sunderland loanee can give their defence something to think about. Can see Gerring at least a yellow if he plays. Danny Wright will be on the bench after months out but he will take a few weeks to get back as he was.

Could be interesting, Shots like an open passing game. However, if they are given no space, they fall apart and start launching it up to a solitary striker. We beat Notts solely because we were given so much room, and our strikers are still going through a dry spell. My predictions are notoriously wrong, so 4-0 to County.

Only one game for us and need to be winning this if we are serious about a top 7 finish. We have a really tough run in so points now are paramount.

The Aldershot way is to beat Stockport and then fall to a limp defeat at Dagenham. Fully expecting us to win one and lose one this weekend as we dont do draws this season

A draw is okay today I think. Eastleigh are another team in the play off mix and it’s not going to be easy at their place. JR has already said we’ve exceeded our ‘Points target’ that he wanted over this period of the last few games including Eastleigh, so really that makes this one a free hit when you consider that!

A point keeps the same gap between us and them and we maintain our game in hand. 3 points would be lovely mind.

Rumours circling that Kwame Thomas is out for the season. Huge blow if true.

For the avoidance of doubt, the blow is for us believe it or not.

He's become quite the foil for Angus.
