Very proud of our club tonight. Fans awesome and the players gave everything. If Roofe's shot sneaked in or Sacko wasn't Sacko in front of goal we might have even nicked it despite missing a few key players (and then another couple during the match).
Enjoyed the Liverpool V Leeds game felt like a proper cup tie, both teams giving it a go and I think Leeds should feel proud of their performance tonight it took a lot for Liverpool to win that game. Quite surprised to see Hull go through despite being the Premier League side, looking at the match stats it looks like they've proper shithoused it though. Into a cup semi though so fair play.
I got home late and the BBC website said Newcastle won on penalties, so for over an hour I was feeling pretty pleased only to find out the truth just now.
It's not as weak as I suspected though. Forster's starting in goal instead of Alex McCarthy for the first time in the competition for one. Other than McQueen and Reed this side would have probably lined up multiple times in the Premier League last season (with the addition of Boufal) and done a job.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have a guy called Martinez in goal, Rob Holding in defence against Long, some guy called Rene-Adelaide and recently fit Lucas Perez. (Seen their bench too? Not one to fear).
Time for the squad to prove itself without Austin.
