We don't give out any free season tickets at all. Never have done, never will do. Unlike you.

Eastleigh do, though, and they're another Hobby Club.

An U10 could get in for free at every single home game, could he not? Is that not the same as a free season ticket?

No. Junior prices are £4 to stand, £6 to sit.

Might have had a kids go free day when we played you, but they are not the norm. Our family tickets are decent value as well.

"We're once again offering FREE tickets to under 10's to this season's home league games (doesn't include cup games). There's no restriction on the number of under 10 tickets you can have but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult."

Doh.

When I've occassionaly taken any under 10's in, I've paid for them. Ffs.

Edit: Just checked with my brother. Seems it must have been a cup match or something. Or I bought a family ticket. Excessive pre and post match drinking clouds the memory.

I'm not knocking FGR and Eastleigh, it's good that they're trying to boost their attendances with many incentives. However, I would say that if you put Macc, Aldershot or Woking in the position that FGR and Eastleigh are in, (guaranteed a massive budget and a top quality squad of players), and then put FGR and Eastleigh into our shoes, with little or no investment, no certainty into the future, and scraping by season to season, I think the change in attendances would be pretty dramatic. That is before you even take into account the difference in season ticket prices between the two sets of clubs.

To quantify it:
1) If you put Macc in FGR's situation - highest budget in the league, has been for years, will continue to be in the future, signing a squad of 20+ players averaging four figure salaries per week, cheaper season tickets, finishing 2nd with 89 and being in with a shot at the title till almost the end of the season - our average would break 2000, Aldershot and Woking's would be higher
2) Macc in Eastleighs situation - similar to the above but with v.cheap season tickets and regular free games - 2500+, again, Aldershot and Woking probably even higher
3) FGR + Eastleigh in Macc/Woking/Halifax etc - little or no investment, no planning to the future, in Macc's case start the season with just 2 strikers in the squad, no guarantee you will even see out the season financially, expensive season tickets - I think it would be fair to say FGR's av att would be around the 1000 mark and Eastleigh's sub 1000

26th for us. Fairly decent considering it's our 4th year playing out of town. When we're back in Darlo next season, increased accessibility and a few decent away followings mean I think we can take that average up to around the 1750 mark which would make us top 15. Should be enough to give us a decent competitive PT budget whilst also hopefully freeing up further funds to further improve the ground.

Any Hobby Club can give out free season tickets.

Myth.
FGR do not hand out free tickets. That malicious rumour was perpetrated by a jealous Cheltenham supporter who knew somebody, who knew somebody that worked for Ecotricity.
The actual truth is that on matchdays there are some Ecotricity workers who get to watch game without paying but are expected to help out with various and a variety of jobs.
It is the same with every other club in the land, including yours.

Difference between us and Eastleigh is that we HAVE experienced over a decade of scraping by season to season In this league, and our crowds still grew, albeit slowly.

And our season ticket prices are not ridiculously cheap I don't think. These are last seasons (this years aren't available yet.)

Season Ticket-------------Adult---------------Senior------------Young Adult-------Junior
South Stand---------------£280 (£240)------£180 (£140)------£130 (£110)-----£60 (£55)
East Stand-----------------£325----------------£225----------------£155---------------£65
East Stand Premium----£340----------------£240---------------£165--------------- £75
Legends Club (seated) + £115 -----------+ £115

Not sure how they compare to other clubs in this league, but we're hardly giving them away imo.

80th with 457 - despite reaching the playoffs in a higher division it looks like the combination of increased ticket prices and no game close to a derby. A shame really, I think we need to push to grow as a club, but we appear to have gone backwards, I can't remember the numbers from last season, but I think it was a little over 500. That was of course boosted by some "big" games, games where we could have won the title, and the final game for the presentation.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to our attendances next season as we move in to a division where the average away game is a lot further. I've always been under the impression that the spread of our fans is biased towards the south of the club rather than the north, which could actually see a small increase in the home attendances as those fans can't pick to go to a closer away game to get their irregular fix.

Does anyone have the numbers from last season (whole table) or a way of accessing them?

Just as a note, Cinderford who won the SLD1S&W and are refusing promotion now averaged 169 in a title winning year. No wonder they can't support football at a higher level. Based on incomes they probably can't support football at this level with that few through the gate.

They've got our average wrong - it's 1642, not 1557.

It's probably just a discrepancy between all competitions and league only. I think (without checking) they do all first class competitions - i.e. league + FA cup + Trophy/Vase, which may drag yours down if you had low FA Cup/Trophy attendances? Or maybe it's the other way around. Either way each club is going to have multiple numbers for the average attendance

http://www.thelinnets.co.uk/turnstile.php?s=2013 - There you go Jemfy (attendance figures against 2014-15). 43rd in that table with an average gate of 669 this season (down from 720 the season before), I'm actually surprised they held up that well considering it was our 2nd season in the South and the football was bloody awful at times.

Have you even read this thread? You DO hand out unlimited amounts of free tickets (albeit for U10s) for every single game, it's an absolute fact...

Some really interesting things in there, I had us mentally as around 530 average last season and to see it as 550 means it was better than I thought... so the drop off this season was worse than expected! Elsewehre it's interesting for me to see that Kettering saw the same effect - promotion to a less regional division caused a significant drop in attendances, though they can use the excuse of not making the playoffs, but that was only just, and a lot of postponed games. Their drop was more significant than ours so we're catching them... *clutches for fresh straws*

Not only have I read this thread but am a FGR season ticket holder so know more about my club than fans of other clubs seem to think they do.

I suggest you click on the link I provided. I imagine FGR know more about FGR than you do.

Funny. See, I found this...

Were you at game?
I very much doubt it.
Kids getting in for free for a couple of games per season are not more than dozens.
Please reread my original post for accurate statement of facts and not what you would like to portray.
And to be frank FGR attendance will probably never match Tranmere's for many years so why get so het up with another club?

Under 10's get in free for some games, but only accompanied by a paying adult. Not sure if this counts as "handing out free tickets."

And those under 10's hardly make up a significant percentage of our crowds.

It's not a couple of games though, is it? It's an initiative you have for every home league game.

Only to the same level (or less) then a lot of clubs. I'll bet Tranny handed out more free tickets then we did last season.

A few under 10's getting in free here and there is hardly going to significantly change our average attendance stats.

Chris, give up.
We both know the truth and it is not as the others seem to think it is.
It's not worth the energy to respond - we've told them the actuality but they remain in denial.

You're right. No point arguing.

We should be flattered that even some fans of clubs like Tranmere are starting to show petty jealousy towards us, would expect it from Halifax but not clubs of their size.

We are a growing club that is going places with an ever increasing fanbase. I guess some people feel threatened by that. Pathetic really.

Christ on a bike. You said "FGR do not hand out free tickets". That's a straightforward and unequivocal statement, and one that your own club's website proves incorrect.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the one in denial.

I'm done with this, you'd argue that 1+1 doesn't equal 2. :ffs:

Who'd be "jealous" of your Tin Pot operation you deluded tit. :ffs: I support a REAL football club. FYI this what a REAL football club looks like when it goes to Wembley:

I think the issue here is more that what he said wasn't what he meant. He's sticking to what he meant while you're holding him to what he said.

He said no free tickets were handed out. He meant no free adult tickets were handed out (I think, not trying to put words in someone else's mouth here)

The difference between this scheme and normal stuff from other clubs is that multiple U10's can be taken by a single adult, while other clubs run theirs normally so each child has to be accompanied by an individual paying adult (i.e. 1 free U10 or whatever age per paying adult).

Shame virtually none of those fans ever actually bother going to league games eh? Which is what really counts.

Plastic daytrippers are nothing to be that proud of. Most of them would struggle to name 3 of your players.

Why have Welsh League clubs been included in the table? They are not non-league clubs.
