This was a team of Irish 3rd division players I think? Very poor if so.

Who the hell is Luke Pennell? we've no one of that name in our squad.

He's a Dagenham player.

Luke James (Hartlepool)

Luke James, following the trend of current internationals doing the same for meaningless fixtures pulled out of this fixture with an 'ankle knock'

Should be fit and ready for the game on Saturday

I went along to the game this evening, England won 1-0 with a penalty from Alfie Pavey.

Impressed with two players who played in particular - James Hardy of Fylde and Wesley Fonguck from Barnet, both will no doubt play higher at some point.

Game was ok if a bit dull - typical friendly. Both sides got the ball down and tried to play, looks like Paul Fairclough trys to pick the best young technically gifted players in Non League. England very pleasing on the eye. Estonia played well first half, but offered nothing in the second.

Crowd was 635 - Lots of family and friends from the players in attendance.

He obviously couldn't be arsed to travel south to Brisbane Road for the game tonight, only to travel back to Hartlepool tomorrow, to then finally travel down again Friday and go back up again after our game on Saturday!

At the beginning of the season Wes was a long way from being a first choice midfield pick for us but he’s been an ever present since our injury crisis forced Still’s hand and he’s taken his opportunities very well, clearly progressing and developing by the game and turning into a very fine all-action midfielder who can score a few goals.

Hardy is on loan at Halifax at the minute as he cant get in our team. He'll stand out like a sore thumb for them as he actually plays football. If it was up to me, I'd sell him. Superb technically but he has about 1 good game in 5 and you can usually tell within the first 5 minutes whether he's going to do anything or not

Good to see England C picking two injured Orient players. At least it’s only the FA Trophy they’ll be missing

Pavey from Dover picked - has hardly played for us, perhaps the England c manager just sends a message to players asking if they fancy a game?

Goodship from Weymouth is a decent call up, I'm surprised he's still playing at that level, could easily play in the NL or higher.

Good to see Luke Trotman in that squad he's had a great season. I think he'll get snapped up in the summer.

Only U23s at non league clubs are eligible and they play at some (but not all) international breaks. They don't compete in any "official" tournaments but play friendlies and friendly tournaments against rough equivalents from across Europe who will each have their own selection criteria.

I don't know if any of your lot will have been eligible for this squad as I'm not sure whether June counts as part of this season or next, but any eligible players of yours can definitely be called up next year.

The whole thing is a bit odd and the squads often look very random as clubs are under no obligation to release players and I'm not entirely sure how seriously Paul Fairclough takes it (he turns 70 next year and this is his only football job now), but the games can be a decent watch and usually get reasonable attendances when played over here.

I saw Paul Fairclough at the 2004/05 Champions squad reunion event and his appearance was the same as it was when he was managing us. Now he looks his age but back then he looked frail for his age.

Good to hear he is relatively well. He left at the right time but we missed his competence and experience for many years (and still do) and I miss the stability we had when he was in charge.
