Winning the poll by a wide margin, we have the mysterious musician Burial aka Will Bevan.

I really enjoyed the track Nath posted with his nomination, Archangel. It was wonderfully atmospheric and subtle, but by the end of the song, I was hoping for a change which never came. I'd love to hear more, but I would hope it's not repetitive. I trust that he isn't given how highly regarded he is. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'll listen to the Untrue album this weekend and post my thoughts about it in here.

Burial thoroughly deserves his place in essential listening.

I'll write a post in here later when I've a bit more time. List a few of my favourite tracks etc.

I gave Untrue a listen this evening. It's decent, a lot more ambient than I was expecting. Very atmospheric as you'd expect but often quite samey too.

Favourite tracks - Archangel and Untrue.

Got to love Malick, the music in Badlands is outstanding and one of my favorite films.

A very deserving winner.

Not many artists have the ability to produce music with such geniune emotion on a consistent basis. Not afraid to take risks, Burial has changed his direction slightly in the past year adapting more of a jungle feel slightly reminiscent of his earlier work. Not many artists can take samples from an upbeat RnB classic and fit it unnoticeably into a dark, yet beautifully produced track. Burial can and does, time after time. You'll know a Burial track when you hear it. He generates an aura with his productions. A special and distinctive sound. The music is a real journey and certainly one worth taking. He's in my opinion, a musical genius.

Worth noting it's much better to listen to on a good soundsystem/earphones. So much goes into his tracks that can be easily missed with a poor system. You'll appreciate it much more.

I couldn't really pick a single favourite track, as I love so much of his music. As for a favourite album, I can't look past Untrue. It stuck to me whenever I first heard it.
