I don't think it's too quick to start this one?

For those who aren't familiar with it, here's a rundown. It was a weekly feature, firstly you nominate a band or artist that you think EVERYONE should be hearing. After a few days to a week of nominations, the nominations go to a poll. The winner of the poll is deemed Essential Listening for that week, and gets its own thread.

This week is the turn of...

HIP-HOP & RAP

I expect a good showing from the Hippity-Hoppity thread posters!

You can find the poll for Week 1 here.

The Ultramagnetic MC's

Particularly their first album, which has some of the best hip-hop production ever. Such heavy bass for the year it was released.

Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip

A dynamic combination of Hip-Hop from Scroobius Pip and electronica from Dan Le Sac. A British duo with brilliant lyrics and equally brilliant music to carry it, who put out three quality albums before calling it a day following their last tour. I can confirm they were awesome live (incidentally, the first non-rock gig I'd ever been to, and I still ended up in a savage mosh-pit). I could pick any of their songs, but I really have a soft-spot for this track they did with Flux Pavilion.
