On the other hand I think the format has made the qualifying stages far more interesting with there being more to play for for more sides.

I've enjoyed it, France was always going to be a great venue. Tournaments always have dull games, I remember Iran in the last world cup, changed their whole domestic season to focus on the tournament and were dull as fuck and insanely defensive in their most winnable game against Nigeria.

Personally I've enjoyed the tournament but I agree there has been a real lack of quality, there has been no clear favorite at any point and it's been wide open for anyone, which I suppose has made it a bit more interesting. The fact that all the top sides got paired on the same side of the draw has probably not helped, but I do feel the group format needs looking at, it made for some terrible group matches.

What are these many terrible group games people are talking about? I've managed to watch the strong majority and looking back I'd only say Spain 1-0 Czech Republic, Germany 0-0 Poland and Italy 1-0 Sweden were boring.

Hoping for a France win here.

Portugual's run to the final has been mostly awful bar a wonderful game against Hungary and watching Ronaldo have a hissy fit is always an enjoyable watch.

2-0 France.

Hope France win, would help the country and I'd hate to see that bastard Ronaldo lifting that cup.

It's all gonna come together for Portugal isn't it?

I hope not. France to win and under 2.5 goals @5/2 for me. Just couldn't hack Pepe winning or to a smaller extent Ronaldo.

I don't mind either winner to be honest. Have a soft spot for France since I lived there, but Portugal haven't ever won anything and everybody like's an underdog.

Reckon France will win though.

Sissoko has done well putting himself in the shop window in this tourament, playing far better than he did for Newcastle.

This is exactly how I feel as well. I want him to cry at the final whistle and not a second before that.

So let's hope Payet hadn't planned a holiday in Portugal eh. Or in Madrid for that matter.

I don't like Ronaldo, but that's a real shame.

I know I give him grief but I do feel for Ronaldo there. The final will be all the poorer that the peacock has flown.

France were favourites anyway but with Ronaldo off the pitch it's become slightly less of a contest now - which is a shame. A Portugal goal would shake things up a bit.

In other news I had him as captain for my 1FF team.

Hmm, I'm sure this performance by Sissoko has nothing to do with him trying to move away from Newcastle.

Would Portugual now winning this game from a direct free-kick be funny?
