Oh indeed, people really need to shed that envy before posting. It's simply not on. After all, you now have a bloke with a net worth in the same ball park as Randy Lerner. The possibilities are endless. :hypo:

And we all saw how that went when he didn't get his way (CL football within 5 years)...

This has just been agreed apparently. Great show of ambition by Everton. If they fight to keep Stones and Lukaku and invest heavily they'll be top 6 material at least.

Getting a manager like this was the only way they were ever going to keep hold of the core of their squad. Great move by Everton but still not so sure it's a great move by Koeman

Well looks like this is definitely happening.

I'm very disappointed with Koeman, thought he was different. He's said time after time that he would honour his contract and even said that he had zero interest in the Everton job, pretty much laughed when he was asked about it in a press conference.

Koeman's been critical of players leaving here for bigger contracts in the past but looks like he's about to do the same thing, hypocrite. Those players joined far bigger clubs than Everton as well.

£7m a year puts him among the highest earning managers in the world apparently. Big pay day for him if it all goes tits up and hopefully it does. Everton can look forward to massively spending over the odds in the Summer considering they haven't been shy at leaking to the media how much they will give Koeman to spend.

Les Reed has to get our next manager spot on now after the amount of bullshit he's spoke in the last three years. Every time he's said talks are positive and progressing nicely the player/manager has left. He's said the exact same thing about Pochettino while saying we won't have a mass exodus of players. The same thing about Clyne and now the same thing about Koeman.

AVB and Howe are the early names being mentioned for us. Meh.

Would someone like Frank De Boer not fit the bill for Southampton Jamie?

Not a bad shout, the Eredivisie is a league we've kept a close eye on over the last two years.

Eddie Howe is top of the #saintsfc shortlist to replace #efc bound Ronald Koeman but good sources tell me he is unlikely to leave #afcb

Eddie Howe knows how good he has it at Bournemouth.
Tried to 'progress' himself before and he will learn from that

Looks all but done now. According to Goal.com all that needs sorting out now is the compensation fee.

He's usually wrong when it comes to Saints news. Howe to Saints confirmed.

In truth, I hope we don't go for Howe.

£7m a year takes the cake. Is Koeman really in Klopp territory?
I think not, but I'm willing to be proved wrong on that one.

You're worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay. There is very little loyalty in football. If a player loses form the fans are pretty quick in wanting rid of them. You cannot expect the players or Managers to have any loyalty, its a money game at worst and a potential game at best. Koeman sees Everton as a better long term bet. History would tend to agree with him, due to the much larger population of Merseyside compared to Southampton and it being considered a football hotbed you would not expect the current situation to last too long. Everton are not immune from relegation but 113 seasons out of a possible 117 in the top division (the record) suggests, as Southamptons' first taste of topflight football was in the 1960's and they have been down more than up since then, and won only one major trophy in their history. it would not seem a coincidence that the same teams have tended to recover from bad spells to win trophys at some point. Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton. Chelsea are new money and have only won 4 titles likewise Man City, Spurs are a cup team. Outside of these Newcastle (Don't get me started) are a much bigger club than Southampton and they havent won anything in colour. Sunderland have achieved more with 6 titles.

You forgot the team who you have played the most played English football fixture with....

All Everton fans have gone on about since Koeman was originally linked with them is how Everton are a bigger club than us. They sound very much like Liverpool fans, but without half of the success of their neighbours. Aston Villa, Newcastle, Leeds and Nottingham Forest are also bigger clubs than us, but that's not really doing a lot for them at the moment.

Hopefully we're able to attract a good new manager due to qualifying for next season's Europa League. Everton attracted one through money and their in denial.

When you look at the figures quoted and the money he's going to have then you can see why he's interested in the job, Everton currently looks a sideways step but he must feel what he's being offered is going to allow him to take Everton further than he could take Southampton. Football is a fickle game and if Southampton have a slow start next season and sit bottom in October fans will be calling for his head anyway, he probably sees it as an opportunity he can't turn down, and of course Everton are a huge football club.
