Haven't seen any of the game, just read the commentary on BBC. What do people make of the third goal? Offside or not?

Nowhere near, United's defence switched off because Lukaku was in an offside position and Mirallas just steamed through and finished it.

Carrick is the most important player United have, they are so poor without him. Goals like they have conceded in the past 2 games generally don't happen when he is there patrolling things and snuffing them out before they occur.

Am I surprised by this result? The answer is no.

'Heads in their hands'chester United have proven once again that they aim to solve all their problems by throwing money around like a drunk madman. No doubt United 'fans' will claim their big money signings such as Mata, Di Maria, Herrera, etc were all world class today and deserved to win 10-0, but let's be realistic and acknowledge that if you lose to an appalling 'Neverton' side you're nothing more than a mid-table team.

I wonder what club all these fairweather United 'fans' will start to support now? Naturally they only support a club while they're winning so Chelsea is the obvious bet, or perhaps they'll look overseas and claim to be Bayerns biggest supporters? Only time will tell from what has to be the most disgusting fanbase in sporting history. Perhaps one of the many 'Bland'chester United 'fans' on here will be able to tell us.

Some of the United fans were disgusting, disrupting the minute of silence.

Am I surprised by this disgusting behaviour? The answer is no.

'Garbage can'chester United 'fans' have proven once again they're a disgusting, hideous stain to this game. Actually booing and laughing during a minutes silence for such an occasion is absolutely appalling, but something we've come to expect from the lowest denominator of world football.

Are any United 'fans' on here willing to apologise for this? Or is this something you condone?

Carrick is important, but United have been woeful. Everton were happy to sit back, watch us pass the ball around and hit on the counter. Our tactics that saw us push forward and get a few wins on the bounce has been figured out.

The biggest mistake in United's play has been the midfield. Loads of possession, but it's always going wide to Valencia and Young, who slow the game down every time they get it. No Fellaini means no incisive runs, Rooney should have been doing that job when he was dropped deep, but didn't. Mata and Valencia very poor on the right wing, still no connection between those two, they'll play it short to each other but never through. Herrera's worst game in a United shirt, a host of opportunities to pass the ball forward into Rooney or Falcao or Mata that weren't taken. Can't blame Falcao for not getting chances, every time he had space to run into, the ball was going wide instead. That being said, he's still too easy to push off the ball and when he did get a chance, he mishit his header when really he should have been taking a step back and getting it into his feet. Shocking defending, Paddy showing he's still just a youth player, Blind's lack of pace diddled us a few times, Valencia astoundingly still keeping Rafael out of the team. De Gea not looking himself, a little bit sheepish and missing obvious opportunities to come out and collect the ball. Overall, piss poor performance. Only players in the whole team who I thought did okay were Shaw and Smalling, and even those are at a stretch.

As for Everton, they defended well, but United didn't make it difficult. McCarthy had a hell of a game, would love to have seen that kind of energy from some of ours. 3 opportunities, 3 goals, and you can't really ask for more than that.

Do I condone it? I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that.

But, unfortunately with all big clubs, these people do exist and unlike clubs like Chelsea who will sit by and do nothing, it was nice to hear that at least the booing was cut short by the other United fans in the crowd.

The result was never in doubt, United were shite up top and done fuck all all game, could have been 4-0 but for a great save by De Gea. Worth pointing out also that Barkley had a decent game and appears to be getting his confidence back.

P.S

A big fuck you to the shower of united fans who sang through the minutes silence.

Fair play Martinez, got his tactics spot on to play on the counter. Happy as anything to just let United have the ball, then bomb forward on the break when we had it, couldnt have gone any better.

I bloody love James McCarthy.

Not to sound like sour grapes or anything, but Martinez was hardly a tactical genius here. He used the same tactics Mourinho used on us, and the same tactics almost every team we've played against this season has used on us. The big difference was that when Everton did break out, they cut through United's shoddy defence and they finished their chances. Fair play, because you did better than anyone else this season in that regard.

Been saying it all season, United are still working out what they have to do when teams stick 11 men behind the ball against us, because at the moment, for all the money we've spent, we don't seem to be capable of breaking down a defence. Feel like I'm watching Arsenal sometimes, rather than United (or at least, pre-2014 Arsenal). Maybe that's why we're in 4th.

MOTM for me. Barry looks a lot better next to him than Besic as well.

Ive noticed in the last few games, we've been playing McCarthy a bit further forward and Barry deeper, and its working perfectly. Just allowing Barry to sit back and win the ball without having any pressure on him to attack, while its allowing us to see a bit more of McCarthy bombing on. I dont any of our other players could have scored the goal McCarthy did today. led the break, played the ball to Coleman, then when Coleman's ball was intercepted, he was the one picking it up again and charging into the box. Brilliant player. Missed him so much when he got injured in November. In between him getting injured in the win in Wolfsburg in November, and coming back properly against Liverpool in February, we played 15 games and won 2 of them! In the 15 since, we've won 8.

It's a good system. Classic passer and runner combo in midfield. No coincidence that since he's come back Everton have gone from potential relegation battle to suddenly resurgence.

As Smudge said, the change in system has helped the form of both players. When we played 4-2-3-1 McCarthy barely went forwards, always passed the ball sideways and never took responsibility taking the ball off the defence to start attacks. Barry had less space to operate because of this, and became an easy target to close down. Since we changed to more of a 4-1-4-1 against Newcastle it's helped not just those two but Barkley as well, he's much better playing deeper where he can attack space with the ball. Barry now sits infront of the centre backs on his own, he has more space to play in, it's easier for him to bring and pass the ball forwards and he reads the game better in this position. McCarthy plays further forward now and is more of a box to box midfielder. He has the pace and energy to make a difference in attack and his forward passing has improved. This position suits him a lot more than playing deeper. If he can learn to pass longer then he could go on to be one of the best central midfielders in the league. He's been excellent the last few games, today however was I feel his best since he signed last season. Hopefully we can sort him out with a new contract in the summer
