Re: the free kick, I have no idea. They both foul, in a sense (it's a clear high kick despite the handball), so it's a 50/50. I don't think Jagielka handles that if the kick doesn't come though, so probably a fair decision in the end.

Edit: In fairness though, any fan would feel aggrieved to have it go against them.

The ref has got the free kick decision spot on. The high foot has caused Jagielka to react in the way he has which resulted in him handling the ball but ultimately the first offence was the high foot and rightly penalised
