Big improvement second half last week. No Lennon which is a shame, would expect Mirallas to replace him. Would be good to finish with a win, but reckon it will be a draw.
Spurs bossed it from the first minute to the last, well played. Another shit performance from Everton and Martinez. I can't see us going anywhere with him at the moment
That was absolutely fucking dreadful. Id say John Stones and Brendan Galloway were the only ones who bothered turning up, the rest should be fucking ashamed of themselves. Spurs utterly dominated the game without ever looking like they could be arsed getting out of first gear.
As for Martinez bringing on that useless prick Distin to let him have a send off he doesnt bloody deserve, when we were still 1-0 down...seriously pissed off with the whole club at the moment. First time in my 15 years as a season ticket holder that I have left before the end of season walkabout. Not a chance in hell I was staying to give them a clap after this abortion of a season. Well in lads, yet another game this season we never bloody turned up in, and as a result, we finished bottom half below Crystal Palace. *claps insanely*
I agree Everton were poor today, especially first half, we should have been out of sight after 45 minutes. Everton made Tottenham's back four looked solid, a very rare occurrence, I thought the normally lively Lukaku was disappointing (Naismith, Distin and Besic made no impact as subs either). Happy to see Kane bag one to achieve a club record, the fella deserves it. Also, I thought Bentaleb done well as a full back today, I think he's a good option in that role.
Fifth place and a cup final, not too shabby for Poch's first season, now we need to do some judicious spending in the summer to strengthen the team. Turn Lewis upside down and shake all the money you can out of him Poch, the tight old twat.
Thing is, Besic was exactly the right player to bring on, but Barkley was the wrong guy to take off. McCarthy did absolutely nothing all game, Barry couldn't cope with Eriksen, Dembele & Lamela. While Barkley did a couple of awful back passes, he also created our one clear chance of the game. Besic playing what seemed on the left was a waste. Our best player was a 19 year old centre back playing left back in his second start. Spurs were excellent all game and took advantage of our static side. Martinez reverted to the 4-2-3-1 that we've struggled with all season and the same issues rose again.
If Spurs can sort their defence out, playing like the way they did today, top 4 won't be out of the question. Poch did his homework and came out the winner, well played
Barkley was diabolical, and him getting hauled off was just about the only thing Martinez got right all day. An absolute liability on the ball, and one lazy little bastard off it. Warm day today and I doubt he even broke a sweat. Martinez' handling of players has been woeful this season. The Distin situation is a joke from start to finish. If there was a falling out, why bring him back in today? If there wasnt, why boot him out for 4 months and persist with Alcaraz in Kiev? Likewise constantly talking Barkley up when hes been utter shit this season. No wonder so many talented young players in this country fall by the wayside because it seems they are just surrounded by people who wont tell them anything but good things.
I agree. One great season, one dreadful one. Ironically, Moyes started the same way, with us finishing 7th in his first full season, which was incredible at the time, then 17th his second. He was only really given so much leeway after that second season because his first year was so good. We then finished 4th in his 3rd season!
