To Oldham fans - is this more or less where you expected to be come the start of the season? Looks a very disappointing campaign (so far) but maybe you need at least another season to acclimatize to this division.

Peter Wild has left Oldham stating he wants a break away from football.

Take that as you will, but we are again on the hunt for a new boss. Personally I'm bored of our current predicament. May as well give it to one of AL's yes men and have done with it. Keep appointing a man who wants to manage outright just isn't working.

Just another saga in the circus of a club. Is it really that difficult to manage the club well?

Coke and ogrady on 2 year deals is a joke.

Tbh I agree with the released list, except Clarke but I think everyone feels the same with that one. Benteke is questionable.

Clarke has held this team together the last few years. Absolute joke decision not to have him around the club in some capacity. A fit (big if, I know) Jose is well worth a place in this league and I still think Gardner can do a job. Benteke being offered a deal is farcical.

The owner has written a fairly lengthy long-term plan and vision for the football club. While I'm on board with the content of it, I don't trust him to deliver on it. The sporting director/head coach model needs the coach to be on board for it to work. I wonder who that will end up being.

I'd have been a lot more energised and happy about this if it had come about a year ago.

As ever, I wish for things to become more stable around the club. The new signing and renewed contract for a couple of decent players are a start.

We'll see, won't we.

Smurthwaite had one of those I recall at one point, hit a few stumbling blocks along the way.

That's pretty bold thinking for a club that has only achieved two play-off and countless bottom half finishes in the third tier in over twenty years.

The Bournemouth of the north maybe?

Hope not that’s one team that I can’t stand don’t know why but we all have one club that we don’t like for no apparent reason and they are mine

I don't get this apparent hatred of AL. I wouldn't say he is maliciously ruining the club and taking us down the same road bolton and Blackpool are/were, I think it's more of a case he is a bit clueless, and has made some dreadful mistakes.
He was unlucky with the wellens/scholes appointments and can't really be blamed for relegation either. Next season is a big one for him, and hopefully now we are seeing him learning by those mistakes and we can progress.
If you take what he says in that statement as gospel there is no reason we can't challenge next year

There's talk that Abdallah Lemsagam's ownership of OAFC could end sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed.

When is John Sheridan going to leave Wigan and return to Oldham to save them from relegation for the 1000th time?

I see Blackwood scored last night, how is he looking so far Oldham fans? I noticed he wasn't in the squad for the previous few matches. Was he injured or just didn't make the squad?

I think it’s fair to say most have been fairly critical of his performances so far but I’m willing to give him a bit more time to prove himself. Hadn’t contributed at all in games until yesterday where he got his goal and held the ball up well at times.

He’s been left out of games mainly because we actually have decent attacking options in Rowe, Dearnley, McAleny and Bahamboula. Part of the problem is trying to figure out where he plays. Until last night he’d not shown many qualities of a striker but given his height, I assume centre forward is where he favours. Hoping he turns out to be good but he’s yet to show too much.

The club have reached a new low today and have sent 3 year banning orders to 2 of our most loyal supporters (one of which is a director of the trust - an organisation which owns 3% of the club) for being vocally critical of the club and the way it is run. All very Oyston-esque. Also I’m sure this is pure coincidence but the letter was sent by Steven Brown… who used to work at Blackpool under the Oystons…

I saw this letter as somebody has posted it on our fan site and for those of you who haven`t actually seen it here is the text:

Dear Mr. *********,

“I took the role of General Manager here at the Club recently and have been asked by the Board of Directors to review actions of individuals that we feel are deliberately geared to harm and cause distress to the Club, its fans and stakeholders.

“You have regularly displayed your desire to promote your dislike of Oldham Athletic Football Club, its management and its progression; and you are influencing others to do the same.

“You are taking deliberate steps to harm the Club and cause distress.

“In light of these circumstances, I am writing to inform you that you are officially banned from all First team and youth team games at Boundary Park and at any other ground where either team are playing for a minimum period of 3 years.

“This is imposed with immediate effect and expires on the 17th December 2024

“I will be forwarding this correspondence to GM Police and our Stadium Safety Officer for their records and action. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Club Safety Officer (Steve Clarke)”

“Regards,
Steven Brown,
general manager, Oldham Athletic.”

It`s a disgrace that a club can issue banning orders two of it`s prominant fans for merely saying in public, I assume, what the vast majority of the fan base think of the current situation regarding the owner, especially given the position of one of the supporters in question holds within the Supporters trust. To accuse them of having "a desire to promote your dislike" for a club that they have probably supported much longer than the owner has even known the club exists is beyond contempt IMO. It looks the owner has decided to treat his club like some Lancastrian version of North Korea where any statement being critical of the way it is run is going to stamped down on. Oldham are considered by some of our fans to be a "rival" but I think everybody can agree that this latest action by their despot of an owner is one step too far and I sincerely wish Oldhams fans, who deserve far better than having this maniac in charge, all the best in their campaign to get this guy out of their club, and hopefully out of football all together, as quickly as possible before he drags the club further into the mire.

While this is probably the lowest that those at the club have stooped, it appears to have had a galvanising effect and brought the fan base closer together. The response from fans of other clubs has also been quite heartwarming. A line has been crossed which I think has resonated with all football fans and while sympathy isn’t going to get us out of the mess we’re in, this debacle has given me renewed vigour to do my part to try and get the Lemagams out. So thanks to those who have taken notice and particularly to those who have written to Steven Brown to object #AbdallahOut

They can sadly do what they like at home but a club can't ban anyone from away games, can only be passed down through police and courts.
