Tricky one to predict this, Mansfield well and truly stuffed us at our place at the back end of last season, and it was men against boys that day. We are riding high, but still not quite found our best formula, and Mansfield appear to have started slowly this time out. I am ever the optimist and believe we can win this one, but expecting it to be VERY tough. Whats the score with Mansfield then?, injuries affecting the start?, or just not as good as last year?

Injuries and suspension have played a part but the biggest issue is so far is we haven’t been good enough. We only had 10 fit senior players against Stevenage so hopefully we don’t have to fill the bench with the youth team for this.

Hopefully Pearce and Maynard are back for this and maybe 1 or 2 new additions.

Should be a good test, although Mansfield havent had a great start I think they shouldn't be written off. We are full of confidence at the moment though so as long as we keep it tight at the back and keep the work rate high we should get the 3 points. Hopefully 2-0 city.

Crazy how five games changes confidence, from that I take it if Exeter play well they haven’t got to be worried about Mansfield. Could be correct I suppose.

It will be interesting to see what formation we go with. We have played fairly tight defensively in most of the games to date, and that has paid off with clean sheets, but not many goals. Last week Matt Taylor changed things and went a bit more attacking, and i suspect he knew we would probably concede, which we did, but scored more than the others (Kevin Keegan anyone). I personally think he will be cautious for this one and am expecting more of a 442 formation, but would prefer if we played like last week

Yep, last season Mansfield tore us a new one with Hamilton and Walker running riot so hopefully we will have learnt our lesson since then.

We do look very solid barring a 20 min spell against Morecambe and the midfield have been playing very well, so we just need to get the strikers firing.

Tbh, I expect we will keep the same lineup, unless Parkes is recalled. Lee Martin should keep his place in support of Bowman but want to see Ajose off the bench as he has a point to prove to our fans and Mansfield fans too.

Mansfield seem to be very inconsistent but they should be up there. They have a big goal threat so we need to be at our best.

Think this may be a score draw so I will go 2-2 in front of 4,445.

CJ Hamilton is still in Ibiza so that shouldn’t be a concern.

We literally only had Rose avaliable upfront against Stevenage, Cook is definitely out I just hope Maynard is back because him and Rose look really threatening and already have 7 between them.

Didn’t look very solid against us - we should have won that. Think both clubs are in a bit of a false position. 1-1

In the six league games at Exeter since we returned from the pit of misery we have won five.

Horses for courses?

I did.
You were very impressive in the first half, less so in the 2nd when we upped our game markedly. How’ve you done since then?

We were fairly pedestrian against Cobblers last Tuesday and lost to a horrendous Lino decision which he later apologised for.

Away at Cheltenham we played some of the best football I’ve seen from a Swindon team since Hoddle. Still seem a bit flaky at the back occasionally.

Tbh, if we dont go up with this squad we deserve shooting.

Don’t think mind games are applicable on a forum, although it feels hard to predict this one - 2-2 is safest bet probably .

We might be in serious trouble if we only have ten fit senior professionals again.

Pearce, Gordon, Maynard all back in the starting line-up but concerns if they are match fit, White has made the bench and Bish/Cook are still out.

CJ dropped, which is fair enough considering his form and Khan also dropped which he keeps doing away from home and I dunno why.

I’m embarrassed to be a fan of that lot after today, going to be difficult to have the will power to go on Saturday.

Only one point worse off from last season but that was diabolical, and Sweeney should be fined for getting sent off.

Should have been 3-0. The bar was the only thing stopping us.

Not pretty but clear winners today.

I thought Mansfield weren’t a dirty team and played like Brazil week in week out. Sounds like you yet again resorted to hoofing it all game like you were at the end off last season.

With all due respect, you have literally no idea what you are on about.

Unless you watched the full 90 at St James Park or the on ifollow that is :D

With all due respect, there are many different people that post match reports stating how much longball Mansfield are playing, not just this season, but from the end of last season too, unless they are ALL wrong.

As for Mansfield being a dirty side or not, the facts cannot lie, you are currently bottom of the fair play league, maybe I have fabricated that too? Funnily enough I don’t need ifollow to know that.

I'd happily be bottom of the fair play league if we were in 1st position. Unfortunately we are 19th and have appalling discipline. I don't understand what is so difficult about not reacting. Professional footballers should be able to control their tempers. If you're that upset, put in a stiff challenge but don't hit anyone FFS. I mean come on!
