Surprised there's not a monumental thread on this already. I was really confident until Still got the sack so just hope Luton don't improve massively off the back of his departure.

We've had nearly two weeks without a game so am hopeful that a few injuries will have cleared up, although we're still missing Harley and Ribeiro which is a pisser. I am looking forward to the game as expect a decent home crowd and also Luton generally travel well. Any ideas on away fan numbers, Hatters?

Think we'll win this...2-0 and fancy Joel Grant to continue his improved form with a brace.

Think the away crowd may be a bit disappointing, there is a general malaise amongst a lot of fans at present i think, add in its near christmas and i wouldnt expect big numbers from us really.

Not expecting too much change but be interesting to see if there is a reshuffle of things, i doubt it as im guessing Hakan and Terry Harris will be having a large say in things.

2-0 to Exeter seems a reasonable scoreline to go for. At the very least i want to see some sort of reaction from the players though. Yes i think Still needed to go but the players have done some bloody stupid things so far this season too and share a large slice of blame for him being gone right now. Hopefully its given them a much needed kick up the arse.

We'll lose. There won't be a new manager bump because the guys in charge are the same coaching staff as before and all are very much John Still people. Also in recent history, whenever we have sacked a manager we've humiliating lost the game following with a general upswing in fortunes beginning the following week.

Away crowd less than half of what it was last season and a 3-1 loss I reckon.

Strangely I think that we MIGHT get a draw from this, although I wouldn't put a bet on it.

I'd be surprised if the away following was any more than 300, possibly less. Last Sat before Xmas, long trip. dreadful football, and recent form (last 12 months really) has put a big dent in any optimism.

Penalty to Luton.

Exeter 0-1 Luton - Cameron McGeehan. Had an argument with Danny Green over who was taking it. His 9th of the season.

Sounds massively fortunate. Paddy Power ave Exeter 150/1 to win 4-2 from here. Easy money...

Well, 2 shots on target, 2 goals. :brill:

Those writing Luton off prior to the game were obviously not looking at Luton's away form this season.

Back to 2-2, as per normal. Luton management team not happy with the equaliser as Cuthbert seems to have been seriously injured.

It says something when not only you aren't surprised, but fully expect Luton to throw a lead away..

Sounds like the winner should never have stood, so look out for that on channel 5 lads!

Seriously though, our defense is awful...

Just seen a video of it - if anything perhaps knocked out of the keeper's hand? Other than that it seems nothing wrong with it.

Mike Simmonds on Luton News' twitter suggested Benno bundled the keeper over the line. Exeters twitter said much the same thing. I've seen the footage and its really not clear. Will have to see it properly.

Not that it matters, fucking get in...

Hmm. 'Benson bundles the ball and the keeper into the net' -LTFC on Twitter.

Cheers Hatter86. Looks like the keeper dropped the ball to me. But yeah, it's not clear.
edit - it was a back pass so perhaps he was caught in two minds?

Completely undeserved. We were by far the better side for the best part of 75mins. Luton were lucky that Craig Woodman did what Craig Woodman does best and fucked everything up for us.

Exeter had the best of the game by all accounts, plenty of missed chances against a team low in esteem and confidence, but could've settled for a draw. Instead took a gamble in attacking in the 100th minute or so and not playing to kill off the game ....definitely a case of a good dose of luck for a change

Seems a fortunate win but we haven't had much fortune this year so nice to see it go in our favour.

Defence needs desperately sorting out it seems, can't keep conceding these goals.

If we stop conceding goals, we get in the play offs - simple as that. Scoring goals hasn't been an issue. Just hope that a new manager doesn't sacrifice attacking intent to sure up the defence (not that there has been much attacking intent anyway under Still).

Looking at the highlights the play for the penalty and Greens goal look really good.

Defending is the concern but the thing is I'm not sure we have the players at the club to improve that really, all the new centre halves have looked absolutely woeful to me so far and as I'm guessing Cuthbert and Magnus are on sizeable contracts I'm not sure if he scope for change in that area.

Just as an aside on those highlights it looks like Bensons goal was fine to me as well, keeper never had control of the ball and Benson has hardly "bundled" him into the net as has been described.

No issue with the Luton winner from a neutral's perspective

No, all the live updates at the time made a much bigger deal of it that it was.

Still in shock. Luton had four chances all game and scored three. We had approximately 12799 chances and scored two. So, I guess, that shows a failing at both ends for us. It was one of the most one sided games I have ever seen. We were superb and had Luton on the rack for large parts of the game, particularly in the second half. And considering we had 5 first team players missing, I am so proud that a makeshift midfield could boss a game so much. Tyler made three top drawer saves and the number of balls into Luton's box that just evaded our player was amazing. Holmes, Grant, Nichols and Nicholls were superb.

Still, as much as we were good going forward, we cannot defend. Woodman fucked up twice at least and Green's goal was well taken. The winner was hard to see from the far end but looking at the highlights I'd say Benson scored ligitimately. Olejnik didn't seem to have two hands on the ball so fair play. But, how we lost, I will never know....gutted.

Oh, the atmosphere was unreal and we never stopped singing all game. It would be interesting to hear what any attending Luton fans thought of the noise as it sounded superb from inside the big bank.

Clapped he team off at the end, great effort but so frustrating. Hate football.
