lol, I loved my visits to the old ground, saw a 1-1 draw, in the cup funnily enough and a 4-3 win in an absolute epic of game in our L1 Championship season. Freddie Eastwood scored a couple, one a free kick that was a prequel to the one he got against Man U the following season in the League Cup, or whatever it was called the following season.

I’m not gonna pretend I’ve been told by anyone ITK, but given the fact he’s been coming to games in the stand recently I had guessed it wasn’t a sickness bug, but rather something slightly more such as a cardiac issue. Obviously with the publicity cardiac issues are having in football over recent years, I think it’s sensible to keep him sidelined whilst the relevant tests are ongoing IF that is what the issue is / something along those lines.

Total speculation on my part of course

Who of the current injured players is likely to be fully match fit by the time of our game on Dec 4 ODL?

Well… I’d hope Clarke, Weston, Rowe and Gunning will all be match fit by that point as they should have had 2 or maybe even 3 games under their belt by the time our game comes around.

Asante will be back in the fold by then, but considering he’s been out for 7/8 months he will be nowhere near fully match fit, but may still feature!

As others have said Hollis, Maguire, Denton and Carline will all still be out injured for that one. We will still be light defensively as a result

McCallum banned for a further two games for an incident following his sending off at Wealdstone. As he was sent off after 2 mins it’s oretty much a 6 game ban. That our cup run done.

We’d be silly not to put as strong a side as we can. We rested a few and played mostly a second string in the tinpot trophy v Bolton mid week. So looks like we’re going for full strength on Sunday. A cup run and it’s money always needed but if we’re able to put money towards strengthening for a push up the table after Jan we should try to.

Southend fans… How serious are you likely to take this game considering you’ve got more pressing matters at hand in the league?

As we’ve said, we’re obviously going to be fielding a makeshift XI with key men sitting it out, so just wondered what angle you think your lot will be coming at the game. Will we see strongest XI, few changes here and there, or full whack… give the fringe lads a go etc … ?

I would expect us to field a strong team to help boost togetherness and getting used to the new coaching team's systems and obviously the confirmation of Stan this evening. We are looking to push on, won't see any new signings for Saturday, but I bet Mr Collymore will be opening his contact book tonight and getting on the phone if that is what Kev and the coaching team ask for.

This is a free hit for us, as we are not expected to win. However, having got clearance from the Yorkshire SUFC to play Kasper and Brunt, we will be giving this a go, be assured of that.
