I can tell already next season is going to be a mess. A FA cup game every 10 days. Having to play Sat Tue for most of the season. Then the inevitable postponements. This is from a Step 5 club supporter and Step 1.

Not sure why we’re bothering with cups this season, be lucky to finish the season with local lockdowns causing havoc as well.

Also you have the honour of being thrown into the Chocolate Wafer Shield with Yeovil, exciting!

If fans aren't aloud in grounds until October, how can the lower clubs play FA Cup in September. Who is going to pay for the officials and any other expenses incurred.

Apparently the rule that teams have to forfeit the tie if they can't play because of covid is supposedly only going to apply to the Qualifying Rounds, because heaven forbid the league teams are in any way inconvenienced.

Also don't get why whole non-league squads have to self-isolate after a single test, but Premier League and EFL teams only have to self-isolate the player/staff member who tested positive.

So basically the FA are going out of their way to screw over clubs under their jurisdiction in a way that the leagues never would. No change there then.

All this does is create an incentive for clubs to hide positive tests.

I know it's not strictly FA Cup related, but these postponements and clubs having to self-isolate for 2 weeks (and obviously being unable to fulfill league fixtures in that time) makes me wonder how this truncated season is really going to work if clubs are going to regularly end up losing 2 weeks of fixtures (as Burton Park Wanderers have now done as a result of this). Even more so if we get a winter of weather as bad as last year with weeks of fixtures falling to the wayside because of wet weather.

Maine Road v Squires Gate will be streamed live on BBC Sport tomorrow evening. The BBC originally planned to show Burton Park Wanderers v AFC Sudbury.

So basically the closest game to their HQ in Salford? Fair enough.

Walsham Le Willows are the latest team to withdraw due to covid.

We lost 1-2 to Step 5 moneybags Stowmarket Town. A very physical side throughout, keen to play through the channels. Could have got a result with better finishing, mind, but not too fussed overall. Going to be a compact season as it is, even without a cup run.

We lost against Oxhey Jets in the Herts Senior Cup some years ago.

Anyone attend any of tonight's games? I saw Staines lose 1-2 at home to Walton Casuals.

A few surprise results:

Rushden & Diamonds 0-5 Newark
Bedfont 3-1 Lewes
East Grinstead 3-3 Worthing (4-3 pens)
Cinderford 2-2 Royal Wootton Bassett (4-5 pens)
Hanley 3-2 Redditch
Whitby 1-1 Warrington Rylands (3-4 pens)
