Morecambe fall under the Burton and Accrington category - bogey side! At least we're at home, though, which makes a pleasant change.

To be fair for all the moaning of having Burton this season as we did Exeter the last and Burton and Accrington the season before that its not like we regularly dispatch non league sides with ease!
Kings Lynn, Chasetown, Canvey Island, Scarborough etc etc.

Very true - And if either of us lose it’s not embarrassing. Both in the same division. Will have got over it by 530pm.
As you say, the non league team is the one you don’t live down so easy.
Could imagine the stick you get losing to curzon Ashton or Horsham….

Yes as I was at Chasetwon that cold December night! Sure that’s the biggest gap between giant killers as well!

Obviously not going into League placings - I don't know where Vale were compared to us last season - but the league gap between ourselves and Alvechurch last season was the same as Vale and Chasetown.

That being said, at the time they beat us, Alvechurch were second or third from bottom of their division.

That was a strange result. As it was not as if alvechurch were pulling up any trees as you say. Massive shock that.
I do recall them taking a good following - perhaps bluenoses or villa out for the day.

I do remember that game vividly as I was living in Stoke at the time and listening to radio Stoke your fans in absolute meltdown. You missed a pen as well.
Was a shocker as you say they are way down the pyramid. Step 5 I think. You don’t live shit like that down lightly.
Walsall fans will be shitting it now / they are away at step 4 opposition. Hiding to nothing. And we all love an upset.

Luke Rodgers missed 2 penalties actually in the space of 5 minutes!

No, won't be showing Stockport or Rovers as they are at home.
...true but they should do us because we have a track record of losing at home to non-league sides in recent years. Plus everyone will want to see Barton humiliated

Great draw for Whitby if they can beat Chelmsford tonight after throwing away a 2 goal lead.

They actually had a nuts replay against Hull a couple of decades ago that ended 8-4 after ET, have a few ex Pools players and Junior Mondal ex FGR.

There were loads of both to be fair.

It's easy to say now, but we absolutely dominated the game, they just took their chances. They also got very lucky that neither the ref nor linesman saw the ball go about a yard over the line.

Take nothing away from them though, they worked their asses off for the win.

What a shit draw for us.

Seemed like every southern league team was getting drawn at home.

Interesting tie at Chesterfield. Paul Cook left us sometime ago now, but there's still plenty of feeling on both sides about his departure straight after our promotion.

I'd love to know where we'd be now had he stayed, but that's all in the past. Pleased to see he's doing well again back at Chesterfield after his Ipswich experience. He's not everyone's cup of tea but plays football the right way, and when it comes off it's very good to watch.

With the Paul Cook factor, and a ground we’ve not been to in a while I’d have thought so if it was on a Saturday.

Like you say, that kickoff time will likely put a lot of people off now.

While Reading away is nothing really of interest, did you know what their stadium is called now? The Select Car Leasing Stadium. :fl:

I hope they got a lot of money for that.

6except us. We've got a shite draw up North a million miles away

Late commenting on this, but ditto.

Presumably Bradford will either have a new gaffer in place by then, or will have candidates in the stands watching - either way, it means a bunch of players all busting a gut to impress, which is not what you want.

I fancy a minor cup run since we haven’t had a sniff of one for ages, and aren’t likely to pull up any trees in the league this season.

But yeah, Bradford win.

£12/£10/£3 for our game, which I think is very well priced.

Kiddy away at the weekend, they were a tough competitor in the old Blue Square north, mind you that's going back a fair few years. We signed a really good mid fielder from them Keith Briggs who gave good service to the club
Right now the hosts are languishing near the bottom of their league, and no disrespect, if Fleetwood can't get a result they don't deserve to be in the Cup.

I quite agree with you about Paul Cook. Pleased to see how well he is doing at Chesterfield. There was a vacancy at Fleetwood a few years, cant remember who had been sacked and he was a popular choice to become manager

A real shame our tie isn't away. A local game but it will be in front of an empty flat home valley atmosphere. Should be a great day out for the Cray Valley fans and I imagine a few Millwall fans will be joining them in the away end.

Hopefully a comfortable win. Hoping for a small cup run and good 3rd round away day given this season is already looking like another dull midtable one.

Big game for us now more in respect of the form we are in league wise than the cup itself. We've lost four on the spin at home but put in the best performance of the season at Mansfield and looked a completely different side with Ojo, Arblaster and Devine together.

I would stick with the same XI if possible as Tuesday, we are through in the Pizza LDV so can rest the XI for that Tuesday and try and build on that win as we critically need some momentum to take back into the league fixtures which is the bread and butter.

Play as we did Tuesday we should progress, revert back to how we played last weekend and we will be out and back to square one going into three away games.
