Bad news for Mansfield, our pitch might be a bit wet tomorrow - they won't enjoy having a sit down every two minutes this time.

Crewe away for the first of two times in a few weeks. Our reserves lost to Cray Wanderers in the LSC last night, so I doubt many of them will be cracking the first team any time soon. I’d expect a reasonably strong side, but with our trip to the Wombles on Tuesday of far greater importance, I’m just hoping for no injuries and sod the result. 2-1 Crewe.

Tranmere at home. Right after facing them away last weekend. A cup draw that neither team wanted really.

I fancy us to win this. We seemed to really have their number last week, I appreciate they had a real off day but we didn't look troubled at all. Plus, as far as I understand the suspended players will be back for this as League suspensions don't apply for the FA Cup. I think?

Obviously, there's a good chance Tranmere will put in an improved performance, and there is always that chance with Carlisle that we'll put in a stinker like we did against Stockport, but as long as we don't get any more players dropping out this week, I think it will be repeat.

Carlisle United 1-0 Tranmere

Spoke too soon. 2 possibly 3 more have dropped in training this week, adding to our hard back book that is our lengthy injury list.

No where near as confident now. It depends who the 2/3 players are I guess.

The third player is Callum Guy, there’s an outside chance he could play after doing light training yesterday. The other 2 unnamed are definitely out. Only thing we know is they both started last week.

I disagree, we can't afford a dreadful performance, need some confidence ahead of two really hard away games in the league. A replay is not what we need mind.

I still have recurring nightmares playing them in the really dark days and getting set pieced to death. It'll happen again tomorrow.
Agree.
We need to try & get some momentum going, getting beat & its just back to square one.
I'd even be happy with a draw to be honest.

The giants of Stockport County take on the titans of Swindon Town in a fixture many pundits are already describing as 'taking place'

The two fierce foes fought out an historic 1-1 draw just a few weeks ago, and will surely be out for revenge

Who will grab their chance at FA Cup glory? Who will be forgotten by the wayside? Only one thing is absolutely certain - by five o'clock on Saturday one of these footballing behemoths will have written their names in FA Cup history. (unless it's a draw)

Paul Simpson banging on about injuries again? Surely not.

We get it, you want the board to put their hand in their pocket. Nobody's fooled by these so-called injuries. Full seven-man bench again tomorrow? Thought so.

Carlisle seem to have a bigger squad than Rovers as it stands. Of our long-term injuries, Tom Davies is almost ready and no new absentees after the Stockport game. Probably 1 change with Paul Lewis starting ahead of Elliott Nevitt, in a 532. Doubt we’ll win but maybe back to Birkenhead for a replay.

We’ll always fill a bench because we have a youth team.

And I’m sure I read it’s 9 man bench for the FA Cup

We’ve gone full strength we’ll know about 10pm Tuesday night if that was the right decision.

They've had more injuries than the Russian Army

Well exactly - there'll be even more options to pick from.

Signing players like Devitt and then expecting him to stay fit is just stupidity. Simpson's the sort of bloke who buys an old banger and moans that it's always in the garage.

We could be forced to give a professional debut to young 19 year old keeper Conor Brann as not sure if Brynn will have permission to play.

He wasn’t even tried in the piss Pot trophy

Maybe the reserves would be doing a bit better!

To be fair to him he doesn’t complain about injuries half as much as I do.
And it’s all well and good having a youth team but they are in the youth team because they aren’t ready for pro football, so whilst they are options it’s not exactly ideal.

The Devitt one I don’t grumble too much as it was always a gamble, it’s the players who have had little to no previous injury problems who are now ripping their hamstrings in half, snapping their ACLs, dislocating their hips, puncturing their lungs, losing a foot etc etc. I find myself questioning the training methods.

Where has this idea come from that Carlisle have a big squad? We don’t.

You mention at least 3 injuries a week, I can’t think of any team that could cope with that…
Well we do get 2 new injuries a week on average, but they aren’t all long term so we do get some injured players back as well.

Think we currently have 10 players out injured and that’s stretching our squad to the absolute max, so much so that we’re dipping into the youth team to fill the bench. Not a big squad.

Players come back from injury too. Bar Dickenson, Dixon and Devitt, we haven't had any really long term injuries but just seem to have constantly 7-10 players out of contention, who those players are changes from week to week.

Dennis and Stretton the two who have dropped injured.

First start of the season for Tobi Sho Silva. I hope he can do 90 because we have nothing on the bench to replace him.

Patrick is long term, as in months. And this is his second (or third) injury of the season already. Barclay’s first injury was also a couple of months.

Joel senior is also long term (9 months), although he’s nearing the end of his recovery.

I spoke too soon re Rovers, mystery illness accounts for Jordan Turnbull and two others missing, Tom Davies back after a long injury for his first start of the season.

Grimsby v Plymouth, - A team with just one home league win all season against the team flying high at the top of League 1.

I’d make us slight favourites.
