Anyway 4th round draw looks interesting. Decent home ties for Derby and potentially Accy, Ipswich might fancy themselves as well. Love how we’ve stormed our way into this 4th round draw (for only the second time ever) in real style, by scraping 2 wins against teams from 4 leagues below and then being the only team that couldn’t get their game on.

1 Preston North End v Tottenham Hotspur
2 Southampton v Blackpool
3 Wrexham v Sheffield United
4 Ipswich Town v Burnley
5 Manchester United v Reading
6 Luton Town or Wigan Athletic v Grimsby Town
7 Derby County v West Ham United
8 Stoke City v Stevenage
9 Blackburn Rovers v Forest Green Rovers or Birmingham City
10 Walsall v Leicester City
11 Sheffield Wednesday v Fleetwood Town
12 Manchester City v Oxford United or Arsenal
13 Bristol City or Swansea City v Chesterfield or West Bromwich Albion
14 Brighton & Hove Albion v Liverpool or Wolverhampton Wanderers
15 Fulham v Sunderland
16 Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley v Cardiff City or Leeds United

Not much of an incentive to win though!

Few good looking TV ties there but no doubt Man U v Reading will be one of the first picked.

Not sure how many are picked for 4th round but you assume these have a good chance:

Preston North End v Tottenham Hotspur
Wrexham v Sheffield United
Ipswich Town v Burnley
Derby County v West Ham United
Walsall v Leicester City
Manchester City v Oxford United or Arsenal
Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley v Cardiff City or Leeds United

If Oxford reach the 5th round they will have done quite well!

The goalie for Man Utd that night when they lost 7-2 was Ronnie Briggs, don't think he ever played for the 1st team again. Albert Quixhall, golden boy of football at that time, signed for £45k, had a breakdown later on when at OT
Ronnie actually later played for us albeit as the reserve to Bernard Hall and the last time I saw him he was playing for Frome Town. Years later he was a labourer working for William Press ( Gas ) and my mate was his supervisor. Funny thing he told my mate he used to room with George Best when on Northern Ireland duty -- My mate thought it was all bullshit as Ronnie was nearly 20 stone and looked like a real navvy. I confirmed he was telling the truth.

Good win for Derby yesterday - putting together quite the unbeaten run under Warne too. 16 games unbeaten, including 9 clean sheets. 3 goals conceded in the last 11 games, 5 consecutive clean sheets. All with a makeshift defence, which includes just one player playing in their correct position. It's remarkable, really.

Fingers crossed we can keep this going, obviously being hard to beat is one thing but we need to start taking points off the teams around us to make ground and see how far we can get.

Oxford acquitted themselves pretty well against Arsenal overall despite trailing. The concern for them will be with the amount of running they’ve done if they now tire and Arsenal stick a few more past them. That would be pretty harsh with how most of the game has gone.

If that be true it would certainly end Brown's career and he could well end up spending time in His Majesty's custody.

Not good. We had similar at Pompey back in 2013 when Sam Sodje lumped an opposition player to win £70,000 by getting sent off. Must be plenty of this going on in the lower leagues.

The only crime these guys consider is being caught.
Nobody can claim there is plenty of match fixing at lower leagues because either, there isn't any, or the guys are too clever to be caught.

To be fair most of the Oxford team were putting in tasty challenges trying to rough up Arsenal a bit. Although that was strangely the only yellow. Shame it wasnt the snake involved though

FGR actually look like they made a decent fist of it, a banger of a first goal, but some infuriatingly competent Brum keeping preventing them adding to the tally.

Um, either a bit melodramatic or the most backhanded compliment ever from John Eustace?

"The first half was difficult for us. We weren't aggressive. We weren't on the front foot. And to be 1-0 down at Forest Green is as tough as it gets.”

Won’t talk about our abject loss. I am trying to keep my heart rate under 100. We are fucked royally this season.
Bet you’re gutted that you missed out on Luton away.

We missed out there. Birmingham were poor, particularly first half.

However, my abiding impression is just how far gone the FA Cup is. By the end last night the game had about as much intensity as a friendly. Sad.
